Buying from a new member

Anyway I guess I have WTB listing in the classified section and then one of the members on here contacted me telling they have what I am looking for. So any we proceeding in contacting each other and so forth and he gave me his price and I agreed but when it came to the form of payment I wanted to use PayPal goods and services cause I am not willing to just send money to a complete stranger than has next to no history on here and hasn't been on airgun nation for even a month. The seller refused using all sorts of excuses which just raised red flags so in the end I just said if it's not through PayPal goods and services I have no interest and I haven't been contacted again since. Did I do it wrong or overreacted? Just curious on how you people deal with purchasing from a somewhat new member with almost no background so that your covered if you're scammed.

You did the right thing. Paypal goods and services protects both the buyer and seller. Usually those that ask for paypal friends and fam also offer goods and services but for more money. I do understand those who do not want certain sales over certain prices on a paypal account due to tax reasons. In your case, it's a new member and you are protecting yourself, you did the right thing 👍 it's your money.

I have been contacted several times by different people saying that they had something I wanted. It automatically throws up a red flag for me. I will not buy from anybody on this site that has not been here for an extended period of time. I also checked their feedback to see how they are as a buyer and a seller.

It depends honestly. But if you are getting a bad feeling about it, then back out and don't send any money.

I know I have offered to help a fellow shooter, who is a new member to the forums here. Try and find someone in the same area as the seller and see if they can take a look at the item you are wanting.

But ultimately it comes down to how you feel. We have all delt with scammers and at the end of the day it is your money. If you don't want to send money then it is up to you.

I have no problem doing that cuz I am new myself but it better be through a service I trust that'll help me get my money back if I am scammed like PayPal goods and services. I even offered to pay the fee so if someone has an issue with that than that's automatically a red flag
