FX FX Barrel/Liner Problems - with picture

This is for a FX Maverick Sniper. When first got it the groups were decent but after several thousand pellets the accuracy started going down getting worse every day. I put a bore scope in it the first time tonight and was amazed at what I found. About 5 inchs from the front of the barrel there were very deep abrasions that went all the way around. On the outside of the liner you can see to dark rings/ridges around it. The problem is between those ridges. I say ridges because the are a larger diameter than the rest of the liner. When I put on a carbon fiber liner i actually had to sand down that area to get the carbon fiber to slide over. Please look at the picture and give your thoughts on how to proceed with this problem
Thanks
Dave

1st = Did you purchase this FX maverick new or used ?

I don't know what anyone did with it, but these are standard bulges, especially when someone's bullet gets stuck and the second one hits it, then someone managed to push it out and it happened to him twice. I've also seen an fx liner torn apart by two heavy slugs.
it's hard to tell what kind of liner it is, you can't tell from the photos.

I was just hoping he would answer the 1st question I asked lol . There are way to many red flags in this post to answer them seriously . Not to mention it is his one and only first post ever here on the forums . I can not figure out if it is AI or dishonest poster yet haha. My tin foil hat is crooked so I am not getting/receiving good signal at the moment.

My advise buy a new liner and tell the truth in the future hahahaha. ;)

fx liners are not forged, they just take a clean pipe and a hydraulic machine squeezes grooves into it, nothing more
So maybe marks from being squeezed from outside with thousands of psi of pressure then...So are FX barrels even reamed? Quality bench rest barrels are drilled,reamed,lapped,rifled,lapped....Same process.with cut and button rifled like Krieger or Benchmark or something similar... Production barrels are much cheaper and are not lapped, but they are reamed before rifleing...So luck of the draw if your reamer was sharp when the barrel was done. Thus cheap barrels have chatter on rifeling left from reamer marks.

most barrels for firearms are forged, some are reamed, but it's a little different for airguns even though they are made both ways.
the only fx liners are produced by extruding the grooves from the outside, that's why the walls are thin, otherwise it wouldn't work that way. the main advantage is the fast and accurate and cheap creation of these barrels

The main advantage is it cost them under $10.00 to manufacture... Its better to use a 1inch steel barrel blank to start with ,its actually stiff so it doesn't flex in drilling or reaming operations. Also.you turn the barrel on centers to the bore... Barrel liners a cheaper solution... Not a better one....I will use a barrel liner because of price not because of quality...

you got it right. what matters is the cost of production, not quite the quality. but we are talking about air rifles where not even one production version is completely accurate. the sponsored shooter uses only the selection barrel at competitions. most manufacturers keep these select barrels. the rest goes on sale.
now the primary production of barrels is for firearms and for airguns only something goes where 40% are usable and the remaining 60% are scraps. and of the 40%, 5-8% are of good quality.
so today it is possible that even fx liners will be of better quality in some cases.

I bought this maverick newa few months ago. I am a retired 76 year old Veit Nam veteran. I shoot this gun daily bench rest style on my own 100 yard range. Just because it is my first post I don’t appreciate be calling a liar. I took time to take the pictures and try to tell my problem. I was hoping someone could tell me and help me figure out what was going on. This will probably be me last post here since you don’t seem to think I have problem and make fun of me.

If it is new it is under warranty send it in to be repaired . or buy a new liner . The internet is not a friendly place at all lol . If a different opinion offends you that easily they have a block button or Burger King option so you can have it your way lol . use it so that you never have to see my response again . Do not run away if you are legit and sensitive you will fit right in . It does appear that you have had some sort of double feed /jam in the past which you failed to mention to most of us/or me haha . you ask in the original post for us to look at the pics and give our thoughts and that is what you received . My honest thoughts .

Send it in for repair to either utah airguns or Newman on the east coast at capefear or buy a new liner .

Your age / personal past / has nothing to do with my opinion at all in any means
;)

Don't pay any attention to these "dinky dao" opinions here brother. Half of them are based on ignorance. FX barrels are neither hammer forged or drilled/reamed. FX buys tubing from a third party and applies rifling by applying external pressure. Every once in a while, a bad one gets through. I had two and sent them back to where I purchased the rifles for warranty replacement.

Then return it for refund or exchange.
