What would you do?

So I have a new gun. Covered under warranty for 5 years. The piston seal is bad. I talked to the rep, and they agree the piston seal is the problem.

Option 1 I get a shipping label, send them the gun, and they replace the seal. I maintain the warranty, but have a seal replaced potentially under the same circumstances that caused me to have a bad seal in the first place.

Option 2, they will honor the warranty, and send me a replacement seal to perform the work myself. I will be able to deburr, grease, and assemble with attention to detail as I see fit...probably eliminating whatever caused the failure in the process. The instant I do that, it voids the warranty so any future problems down the line are my problem.

Option ONE

I wouldn't jeopardize losing my 5 year warranty.

In every case that I have had an issue with a new gun and I've called the warranty provider (normally the manufacturer or authorized reseller) and asked for an RMA and notified them I am able to do repairs myself as long as I am able to maintain the warranty, I've been granted permission to go ahead.

I think good manners, a good attitude and assertive customers get further than jerks and crybabies.

I'm with Septic, I hate shipping and waiting specially for an inexpensive part like Oring ETC. What else could possibly go wrong with your gun? Is it a springer?
Yep...gas ram springer. Easy enough to work on. Never used a warranty before, was thinking about seeing what it's like while I have the option. It's not likely I will though. Would rather have the confidence knowing what inside having done the work myself.

Cool. Just making sure it wasn't a different brand. I was going to say make sure the crown is good before voiding the warranty if it was. I guess even if it isn't the one I was thinking of I would still make sure everything you can inspect prior to opening it is good before doing so
Already ran through the list of other possible options that could be causing issues....fps has dropped below 500.

I would ask them to send me a new Gas piston for my gasser .

If it fails again you will want to know how to repair it . With shipping these days it could end up with more damage beyond the piston.
My feeling is the piston is still good atm. Obviously having shot it some with a bad seal during the diagnostic phase I have some concerns that will have shortened it's life though. A bad seal while not an actual dry fire has less resistance than it should moving forward.
