Fox Air Power - need some help getting in touch

I posted this in the wrong forum, which didn't allow replies... so it was suggested I re-post it here.

Hello my AGN brothers and sisters!

More than four weeks ago, after receiving an email announcing Fox being certified to work on Western Airguns equipment, I sent off a Sidewinder for a full going over. The Sidewinder has been in their hands for more than three weeks.

The ensuing time has been spent sending email after email asking for updates. Thus far, I have no details of any findings. I'm told parts have been ordered (which Fox didn't have and needed to be ordered) I've asked for details, I've received none. I asked for an eyeballing of the costs involved with the parts and labor. I have no quote, only a message in a long email thread that they have a new supplier for parts, and they don't know what the cost is. I'm flummoxed - I've run MANY businesses and I've never ordered anything from any supplier without knowing what they cost, without having gotten approval from the customer approving the costs.

If all of this sounds weird, I'm with you and I'm befuddled because going on reputation I've read about here, Fox is top notch. My experience thus far has been less-so. Every interaction with them via email is friendly - but lacking any critical detail that makes me feel like I know what's going on.

I'm not here to sling slugs, but what I am asking for, is any name of a person any of you have dealt with there, and a phone number I can call to speak to a person about this. I've had no luck with either so far, myself.

Again, at this point, I'm not mudslinging nor am I asking any of you to do so either. This is a factual accounting of my experience so far. My goal is only to get my Sidewinder back, in nominal working conduction.

If you'd prefer to help anonymously, please DM me here with any info you can offer to help my Sidewinder find its way home soon.

Thanks, friends!

Mark

Don't expect any emails until it's done based on my expirience. He is very hard to get ahold of when dealing with him. Seems like a nice guy but never answered my emails and no way to call him. I had questions about an airgun I was purchasing from him. Others at the time said they had trouble getting replies also. This was a couple of years ago. maybe he's too busy?

SMH.

I'm in waiting mode right now, and I don't want to shake the rafters if he's the sole employee.

I don't understand company's need to seem larger than they are - it makes for unrealistic expectations.

Case in point, our friend Kelly at KrazCool. I know he's the guy, top to bottom, and when I engage him, I'm always respectful and thankful for his time and effort. I'd be similarly disposed towards ANY vendor who is transparent.

Your timeline seems perfectly normal to me.
Your asking for help getting in touch, yet you also mention that you are already in touch. ???
You also mention that he is ordering some special order parts for your AEA.
Have you considered that he may be at the mercy of his supplier, in reguards to time and a price on the parts?
Being certified dosent mean he stocks 100% of every parts.
Common sense would be that its impossible to estimate costs, timelines, or repair anything, without the proper parts, no matter how urgent you feel this is.
Also, we recently had a holiday, which fell on a Thursaday, so probably a 4 day holiday for many.

I guess you're just trying to be helpful 😒

It's not an AEA, brother. It's a Western Airguns rifle, and they advertised they were an authorized repair facility. Generally that means that they have access to parts and expertise to assist in tuning and repairs. It's OK if they don't have the parts on-hand - but not knowing what those parts cost? That's disingenuous.

As to the rest of your comments, well, they're just unhelpful.

I was asking for anyone with contact information (phone numbers, name of people, etc.) which I don't have.

I'm not attacking them, just asking for support and help getting in touch, and letting people know what my experience has been like - they can judge for themselves if they feel comfortable sending them their expensive rifles or not.

My experience with FoxAir was actually great. I emailed them asking for AEA parts, got a reply in about few hours with a quote. Then I've added a few more pieces to order, got an invoice the next day, paid and got parts shipped and delivered quickly. In my case it was superb. Sorry to hear that you had the opposite experience with them :(.

It’s been a month now, and I’m promised that the parts will arrive next week and I’ll have the quote for the repair (more like an invoice at this point because what am I going to do, turn down getting my airgun back?) so I’m hopeful this saga will end soon.

Thanks for those who sent positive vibes. Maybe they’ll pay off.

Best,
Mark

Hey all - the update is a good one.

I thank all of you for your suggestions…

The quote came at the end of last week and it was very reasonable and paid immediately. The rifle shipped Monday at a very reasonable shipping rate and I’m awaiting to see how it performs when it arrives.

All in all, I think the worst thing about the situation was expectation management. If I had an indication that it’d take 6 weeks to get it back, I’d have chosen a different vendor.

Just glad this episode is over.
