Brocock/BRK Atomic XR cocking handle too long - hits knuckle

Am flattered, but wouldn’t know. Maybe contact AOA about a shorter handle. Looking at mine, it seems that cutting it to a shorter length is doable as it bolts on from above. You can easily remove a 1/4 to 3/8. How you go about shortening the handle would be the issue. A hacksaw, maybe? Call AOA first…

You can take it off and replace it with another style. Brocock "Loc-tites" everything so you need to use some muscle, but it will unscrew fine once you break it loose.

Thanks for the heads up on the Loctite. Looks like you've had yours for a bit. I realize I can get something shorter from another Brocock model, but have you seen any custom cocking handles for Brococks anywhere?

Just got a Brocock Atomic XR in the 'We the Plinkers' package from AOA. Really like the gun, but it came w/ an extended cocking handle and it hits the knuckle on my index finger as I'm gripping the gun. Anybody know of custom cocking handles for the Atomic?
I had this exact same problem. My fore knuckle would get banged up by the lever every time I cocked it. I unintentionally discovered a fix by getting new grips. The stock grip was way too narrow and forward leaning for me. Having a more vertical grip brought my knuckle back and away from the lever. My knuckle is now no longer in the way of the lever. Both the Hogue rubber grip and Fab Defense Gradus worked for me. Currently using the Fab Defense. I did gain more clearance with the Hogue however. May be worth a shot (much pun).

On the Ghost (which uses the same lever) it is too long as well, as it obscures the safety button. So I copied the design in a CAD program, and made it a little shorter. If you have access to a 3D printer you can simply print it. I made a couple different lengths, and favoured the middle size myself.

After printing spray it with some matte black paint (or use a matte PLA or CF infused).

Yep, needed a shorter handle for my Ghost due to blocking of the safety. Considered cutting it shorter then realized my Commander had the short version. Swapped them and I like them both better now. And their thread locker goop was working very well! Thought I was to going to strip the allen head on the Commander for a brief moment until it let go suddenly:oops:. A little heat from soldering iron might make it break free easier.

Nice design. I'm actually a professional draftsman so I could draw one, but no access to a 3D printer or lathe. Taught CAD for 20 years and started teaching CNC machining for a couple then went back to industry since it's way less stresful.

Same with the Ghost.
But, it's a pretty simple task, to just cut the handle/tube in half, and bolt it back together.

Or -
Like I did to my XR, NO cutting involved !

My plan is to take it off, chuck it up in the drill press and cut off and then radius the bottom. Do the English (Brocock) have tiny little hands? lol.
