I’m shooting FX 34 Grain pellets out of a compact gun barrel 500. What could one of you Airgun masters suggest I tune this gun too. I’m at 860 shooting 25 grain now just like a heavier pellet. Be nice if someone could even point me to a nice video to see some visual.

also I was thinking of converting my M3 impact to the compact and making my M4 the longer version 700 because it’s the latest and greatest, but I like the fact that they removed the regulator is there a video that anyone knows of for the M3 impact removing the regulator. I believe you need a regulator delete kit for the m3 if you want to remove the first reg.

  1. Max out your Macro and Micro hammer adjusters. Set them to 16 and 5. This is a quick way to see the max fps for a given reg pressure
  2. Shoot some shots across chrony and see what the max speed is for the current reg pressure. In this example target 97% velocity of 880 means we want ~907fps max. These shots will be LOUD since you are at overkill power and the valve may still be open when the pellet leaves the barrel.
  3. Leave hammer spring alone and adjust reg pressure as needed to achieve target max fps
  4. Once you get the reg pressure dialed in to achieve target max fps, dial back hammer spring via micro aduster until you hit the target final fps (880 in this case). Shots will get quieter since you are no longer wasting air.

Since you have a twist suited for pellets you should have absolutely no problem with accuracy at 100 yds. I would try a speed around 910 fps. Other guys are having good luck shooting those softer FX/JSB's to 100 yds at that speed. I actually prefer the harder lead alloy of JTS Dead Centers which necessitates higher speeds. In my Daystate .25, I'm shooting 33.9 and 29.5 at about 935. My Airacuda Max .22 is shooting 18.1 at 905. I'm getting "hole in hole" performance out to 75 yds with little wind. Hope this helps you a little.

@starlingassn is a compact M3 33.95 shooter. Seems very happy for quite some time. Hopefully he will see this and point you in the right direction giving you some general settings and speeds. All the Impacts I’ve sold, the guys wanted them to shoot 33.95’s. With a 600mm barrel, the guns did it below the slug settings zone. You will be in the slug gun mode to get them cruising in a wide enough testing zone.

After I first got into PCP's I had a lengthy phone conversation with Billy at The Pellet Shop. I informed him that I was "green" and he hit me with a whole bunch of knowledge.
Pellets really don't need twist from a barrel to be accurate.
Slugs NEED more twist for accuracy.
Know what you want to shoot and get a gun with the twist rate appropriate for your ammo as well as the nutz to push it.
He actually convinced me to aspire for .25 and shoot 33.9 grain pellets @ 870-910 fps.
I took his advise and have been quite successful.

How fast do you want to shoot the 33.95. If it were me I’d get a 600 mm for them. With the 500 you might get them in the mid 800’s but the gun is going to be working harder and your shot count will suffer off the 300 cc bottle. When I had my m3 600 mm I was shooting 33.95 just over 900 off 120 bar reg. You will need well over that in a compact.
