Ever hear of washing your replacement cotton moisture filters?

I just bought a big bag of them from Aliexpress.

Thats the American way .. disposable.

I'm so cheap I bet I would at least try and see . Heck I already wash and reuse my store bought cleaning patches ..lol.

I've been wondering if you can clean the cotton filters I'm very interested in seeing you clean yours

Make sure you rinse well, or you will be shooting bubbles

I’m not sure you could get all the soap out of them when washing. For the cost involved I’m not sure the time is worth it. A least not for me.

Why not just dry them with a hair dryer? Is washing necessary?

Hopefully the cotton filter is not your only defense to stop water. Why wash them? Just squeeze what water you can out of them and sit it someplace dry for a couple days. after a dozen uses when the oil spot reaches the other end throw it away and put a new one in the line-up.
I guess you could put a dry one in the microwave for a few seconds and if it gets hot you know it wasn't dry, hmm maybe I'll try that next time my wife is out.

Thinking about the microwave. .. probably not a good idea with the bit of oil embedded.

I think I bought a bag of 100. I only refill my SCBA tank about once a month. Some months I fill it twice, however. So maybe 15 filters get used per year. That's about 7 years before I need more. I think I can live with that. I'm cheap too but not that cheap.

So, I did this. I have used filters in a line of 4 so one a week or so with my 30 hr YH. I finger squeeze and set them in my basement with the dehumidifier keeping the humidity 45 to 55 %. I'm in MD and it sucks this year. I snuck up and put this one in the MW for 30 sec after sitting for 5 days. Nothing! No steam no order.

I actually just use Tampax, way cheaper and they are rated for heavy moisture flow.
