Crosman New 1701p first PCP

I am coming back to Airguns after a couple years off. Basically I shoot Field Target but don’t have any FT activity in my area. I am working on that.

But in the meantime I need to get shooting. New house has a very small yard. And it’s got neighbors. So I can shoot my springers outside but at 10 meters is is still a little loud and the target needs to be silenced. I got out my 2300 Co2 pistol. and it is quiet enough and it is also low enough power that I can use my regular pellet trap. So now I can set up in my garage and shoot across the patio at a target backed by a hill with a metal gazebo blocking any possibility of a stray pellet leaving the yard.

I like the 2300 pistol but the co2 cartridge have drawbacks. The 1701P eliminated all the problems with Co2 and make a nice pistol package.

I am really just entertaining myself and want trigger time. So I ordered the stock option to convert the pistol to a mini carbine. Something I don’t have. And I can rest the air tube on a sand bag and just stack pellets.

I opted to mount a rifle scope because of the stock. Should be some fun.

I ordered a Hill mk2 hand pump because it’s a pistol and I am waiting for the stock and pump to be delivered.

great little gun , and "tons" of easy mod's for it . First might be a moderator to silence it

This is what I wanted. Got up early and checked to see if it held air. YES it held air.
After about twenty shots to sight in I shot ten through a dime with one low flyer. This is an old empty tin of dusty 10.5 Premier pellets. It took a while to sight in because it was shooting left and I the scope mount can be adjusted to correct that. Thats when I discovered the screws were loose.
After that it came right in.

The birds drowned out the noise. This is plenty quiet.

Now on to the chronograph testing and pressure monitoring to get a shot string and see what pellets it likes.

But that is the fun part.

After a bunch of chores I got to shoot some more. I got it dialed in with the Premier pellets and then switched to the RWS 7.0 gr R-10 match pellets. Keeping it between 3000 and 2500 psi it shoots really nice. I started to chase the groups as I would loose my center so I shot some single shot targets. I think I’ll do six single and maybe go back and do it again . More than three in one place makes it hard to and I get all nervous .haha

This thing is awesome. My first time just sitting at the bench and shooting since 2016. I only have 13!yards to work with and I am hoping to get it to stack one hole groups.
Today being the first day I needed to get used to it and that did not take long.

But thing deserves a decent piece of glass. I am not a scoped pistol fan but with the stick it’s a little carbine and a rifle scope works great. I put this 4-32 Crosman scope on it because I have it and it’s a Crosman. But it is probably a ten dollar scope.
I dug through my stash and found an odd scope I don’t even know where it came from but it has a zoom. That tightened the groups up to 1/4 inch at 13 yards. Not going to break the bank. But this thing could benefit from better glass.
Also I now have to use eyeglass. Thats something new to my shooting.

I have been looking at different rifle scopes to shoot at 10-25 yards with the Silhouette pistol fitted with a rifle stock.

I shoot from a bench resting on a sand bag. My new goal is to shoot the tiniest five shot single hole group. That is going to be my new fun challenge.

Yesterday I put nine sharpie dots on a target . The first shot made the sharpie dot get bigger. It was a perfect bullseye. Of corse I missed the next eight and moved on. But this thing can shoot. And it inspired me to try that.

My TX200 did a .060 five shot group from 25 yards. That happen while practicing for a Field target competition and it was the best group I ever shot. 3 I can do 5 makes me nervous and I crack.

So I’m going to order this Leapers 4-16x44 UTG scope. It’s not to long and it’s at the top of the budget. Should be good for what I want.
