UX notos, Artemis m60, or AGT Vixen?

I'm looking to get something that's lower on power than most gun, preferably compact but I have found that most of those offering are $1550 and higher and I'm wanting to stay in the $1200 or under category.

I want to keep it under fifty yards, as I have airguns that will do the work out to 200yds.

I would like a .177 but I don't mind using a .22 in this scenario, hence why I put the notos up. All of these are within the same power range, are about the same length, and there isn't much of a difference when it comes to noise levels from what I have gathered. The biggest difference between them all is the different price point and the amount of shots eor fill.

If anyone can chime in with their experiences I would appreciate it!

Go on youtube JTS Airacuda MAX you get everything 2000 plus airgun has 500 bucks or less goes all way up to.30 guys were crushing even at 100 yards nice deal without killing your wallet plus at that price you can get a better scope good luck
I prefer bullpups, and that gun is much longer given that I will also need to put a moderator on it.
There was a RAW pistol in .22 in the classifieds yesterday for about a grand.....put a butt stock on it.....
I'll check it out, but I have my doubts about it.

FWIW, I've had my Notos for a couple of months.. Very impressed. For $250 bucks it's hard to beat! The trigger was terrible, but I've worked it over to a respectible 2 1/2#. Not a match trigger by any means...but okay. It needs aftermarket mags. That's about it. No other changes. Very accurate. Good luck on your decision. 20PPC

I can give you some of the good and bad for the AGT Vixen .177 I am currently the owner of one . I have no experience with the others on your list .

Quality
The Vixen is very well built the only subpar part (and this is the only bad here) is the plastic buttstock mine cracked so I replaced it with a bintac bottle clamp buttstock 60$ there's also a few 3D printed replacement options out there.

Quiet
The Vixen isn't as quiet as it looks with that big shroud it's not extremely loud but has a sharp airy sound . My comparison is to the Taipan Veteran std .177 with a tanto on it which to me is the kind of quiet I like so this may not be a fair comparison . Quiet is a premium for me so I put a Ronin on it and that brought it down to an acceptable to me level. With the Ronin the whole package measures 35 inches without 28 3/4.

Accuracy
Just silly accurate same hole at 30y with the right pellet if I do my part. It likes JTS 10.4 and hades the most but is very pellet friendly as you know every barrel is different so mileage may vary here. It has a CZUB barrel that is out of the box accurate but I did do a Polish and waxing on the barrel and also a little extra work on the lead in to the barrel which was a little rough when chambering larger diameter pellets. Let me say the barrel was perfectly fine without me doing any of this I'm just a little OCD.

The regular is amazing with the JTS 10.4s at
587fps
SD 0
V 0
ES 0

Hades
609fps
SD 1.19
V 1.8
ES 2

It's also lite weight and maneuverable, 15shots per mag , very nice trigger, easy to work on simple design .)
Shot per fill at least 80 at the current tune ( I am running on memory here) maybe more but not less.

I have a Notos and they are great for the price. Really accurate and light weight.

I was looking at the Airmaks Katran recently. Looks like an awesome little compact for about 1200. CZ barrel so I’m sure itll shoots amazing. Only weighs about 5lb. Also a bottle verison available.I hear great things about Airmaks.

It’s so hard to choose with all the options these days.

Happy shooting

I bought an JTS Airacuda Max in .22 a couple weeks ago. So far at fifty yards it is just as accurate as my FX Crown. Kinda blocky in appearance, but very well made and no plastic.
And it was 235 bucks at the local pawn shop, and new I think they run around 400 bucks.
Still playing with it, however my first impression is that if I had access to this one a few years ago, I may have never traveled so many rabbit holes.

Cheers

I appreciate the info! I have heard few cons about this but nothing to really be concerned with, especially if my expectations aren't high. 18fpe would be plenty for me from this set up and I'm down to go as low as 14fpe it looks as you have yours closer to 10fpe, maybe 8? Looks good though!

I had a katran and it was a fantastic shooting shooting hades at 1044fps and could get repeatable 1" groups at 50yds! Never seen that before , but alas it was much to long measuring at 43" with my huma mod 30 can, the airmaks can made it 44". The katran compact would be another avenue but they really aren't avaible much of anywhere. I would love a krait or the krait hp but they're in that 1.7k bracket. Thank you!

I've shot the JTS and sighted one in for a buddy/coworker, they shoot great! I just prefer bullpups for the length. For the money these are some of the best full length rifles money could buy, specially for the quality of the mags.

I hate when you get a nice compact gun then have to add another 4-5” moderator. Thats what I like about my Taipan mutant. It’s quiet as it came. I wouldn’t mind trying a vet compact.
Edgun west has some katrans in all sizes. I really like the krait lite but not sure I want to spend $1600 atm. I’m looking for my next Airgun as well lol. Always 🤘

Maybe a Ranger or Atomic XR? They’re in your price range. And both can take the daily rigors of Iguana busting… Simply a solid little gun…

I’m the dissenting opinion on the Notos around here. They get a ton of praise for being cheap and quiet and “accurate”. I’ve found that to be mostly true.

My issue with them is “shootability”. While they may be “accurate”, they aren’t easy to shoot accurately because they are so light and have that thin round tube. The kids have a much tougher time hitting stuff in the field (cans, pest birds, steel targets) with the Notos than they do any of the other air rifles I own. I noticed that I miss more critters with them too…. and I’m not prone to missing stuff real often inside 50 yards or so. So

If I wanted a .177, I’d order an M60B from Wes, with the tube conversion… you’ll be in it around $650. Other than that, maybe a BRK of some ilk.

Notos is a < 25 yard pester in my experience.

I feel you on that, if money was no object, I would get an Edun Lelya in .177 and .22, airmaks krait lite, krait hp in .177 and .22 and be done with getting sub 30" guns that can still put out good power.

You have definitely shown me what these little guys can do even at low power, but I have yet to find one for under $1500 unless you're reffering to the .25 cal on the classifieds section.

I appreciate that a lot, I have heard a lot of great things from the notots but when I see their owners results I have moxed opinions about them. What everyone consideres good accuracy and use varies. I've never had much of a problem shooting smaller and lighter airguns. I've understood that if I'm to shoot them I need to hold them real tight as if I were holding an s-b-r and that's always worked out for me. Or braced up to an object. My thing is that if I get a notos I would likely end uo sending it off to get the block and bottle added. And for that price I could get the m60 in the caliber of my choosing. At which point rules out the notos, unless I leave it alone. It should not be this difficult 😂
