This makes near two, so cost is about $25 each

Rather than wait for responses about how good this mod is, I went ahead and ordered the parts (I already had the vinyl end cap). One thing that I did different is that I didn't order the 4 socketed leveling feet from amazon. I wanted the threaded bolt for the socketed leveling foot to be longer, so I found one that had 150mm long threaded bolt (about 6 inches of threaded bolt) from here:

Help! Serious question here -- does the internal M12 threading of the 15mm tube go all the way through the tube? I want to be able to screw a long M12 bolt into the tube that will go about 5 inches into the tube. In other words, can you see all the way through the tube, OR is the tube mostly solid with just threaded ends?

I hope someone can answer this question before it's too late for me to cancel the order.

I cancelled my order for all the parts. I cannot determine if the M12 threading in the 15mm rod goes all the way through the rod or not -- I now get the impression that it doesn't go all the way through. My whole plan was to have a leveling foot that could screw all the way into the 15mm rod (all 6 inches) so that I could have lots of travel for micro-adjusting the height of the monopod. That would have been excellent. So this mod doesn't quite do the trick for me.
