What do utubers do with their older impacts?

Since the impact m4 came out. All I see youtubers post is their new m4. Talking about utubers like Matt, Gerhard, shooter 1721, Utah airgun, airgun channel, airtac hunting, earnest, viking airgun, upnorth airgun, etc. You get what I mean. Fx fan Boyz. This happen when the mk2 came out. It was all about the mk2. Then m3 came out and all their channel was on the m3. Now m4 came out and their channels is all about the m4. Do they freaking get free guns from fx or what. So they just toss away older impacts? Or they ship them back to fx to recycle? Drive me crazy each time a new impact comes out and they talk so great about the latest and greatest m4 and make my older impact seem like inferior. Do I need to freaking upgrade to new impact each time one comes out? 🤔

I just try not to let the videos that I see define what I want or need. I know it's a "consumer culture" and all, but that doesn't get between me and my happiness.

Hopefully those older impacts find their way into hands that will use and enjoy them instead of being stuck in a safe until the estate sale happens.

Cheers,

J~

I doubt those youtubers are selling their older impacts each time a new one comes out. They have more money than us so I don't see them trying to waste time selling it. I have not seen one video they even trying to sell them. I'm guessing they either stored them away or ship them back to fx. Since fx doesn't sell used guns I'm sure they are recycled or something.

In early 2000's when I started with my shooting sports, I contacted the "pro-stuff shooters" on several forums and I was buying from them - for myself - that best last year model what they shoot in competition.

Several years later (still no utube back then) I grow up in competition level and I got a "sponsorship", from a German manufacturer that lasted almost a decade.
I had a good job with income not to throw away, I didn't wanted to risk a full time as a pro-stuff . I still had to pay for equipment but only a fraction from MSRP. So selling it next year I was still in positive balance.

The pro-stuff shooters on a payroll only may be getting free stuff , but I would assume in US alone maybe less then a ten people ???

Utubers? naaah, most of them are just junkies trying to collect signatures for couple bucks....
Also, if you really wanna go for a title as "sponsored shooter" you need to send in your Resume, I don't think the utube clicks count anything there.

Anyway, if you shopping around it is always a good idea asking those people what they wanna do with their equipment.

I don't think majority of the popular / sponsored guys who get free gear are holding onto their original impacts, or mk1's, mk2's, mk3's for that matter...more likely to either give away to a friend/family or sell to make room, not everyone hoards, and the ones that do would make it glaringly obvious with camera shots in their videos showing off their collection of 5 impacts...

I suppose that you could contact them and ask if their older guns are for sale. One of the cool thing about youtube is that you can actually reach the people that produce the content. I mean... Have you tried calling Walter Cronkite? He just ain't available!

But I'm happy with what I have, and there isn't an "influencer" that's gonna change that. PCP rifles just don't do it for me.

Yes.

It's called marketing. Planned obsolescence to be more specific.

Yours is now junk, you need a new one.

It's the FX way, and people fall for it all the time.

Walter Cronkite?
Good luck trying to get ahold of him, as he passed away decades ago.
