Minimize the time it takes to fill your drying filter?

If you use this finer silica crystals instead of the more common beads it should fill more of the internal volume reducing the time needed to pressurize the filter. Also the finer crystals increase both the amount and the surface area of silica so it should be more effective than beads.

You can use Crystal cat litter too it's the same stuff

One concern with using finer beads is, ironically, the reduced volume of air in the cylinder. The smaller the beads & tighter the fit, the more resistance air has to move through the filter (good, as it gives more time to drop moisture) but the harder & longer the compressor has to run to move the same volume of air (bad). This is just a broad assumption - different compressors will likely fare better or worse in this scenario.

Or you could use a one-way valve and a pressure maintaining or on-off valve at the output and have the filter pressurized all the time.
I totally agree with this concept but I have priced them and they are quite expensive. My thoughts are if I’m filing my gun back up from 2500 psi the only air that moves into the gun before it’s pressurized and slowed that isn’t in contact with the drying agent is the little bit in the whip from filter to the gun. Just seems a little pointless. I guess unless the back pressure valve is set extremely high ? Maybe that helps even more 🤷‍♂️

how much time are ya saving? and is it worth it? I would rather do a full air dump after each fill cycle.
I actually dump the air before I shut my compressor off, as I let it run a bit before I hit the off switch
my coltri does not have auto off,,, I stay vigilant during fills,,, gun direct or bottle fill

and as far as smaller size desiccant to fill more void, increases the air velocity so it spends less time in contact with the desiccant, so it is less effective

these are my opinions

I just try to top off my 3 bottles at the same time so I only have to wait for the dryer and separator to fill up one time. I also only air down to 2k on the separator/dryier, The guns get instant air when I fill from the bottles. So no wait time there.
