Refilling the Huben GK1 5000psi

Just thought I'd point out that you don't actually have to fill it to 5000 psi . . . I have a Huben K1 that has only seen 4500 psi once (never more) and is regularly filled to a max of about 4000 psi just because that works best for a decent number of consistent fills from my tanks.

You really don't get that many more shots from the extra air, as it is less efficient at the higher levels over about 3500 psi due to air not being an ideal gas above that range (specifically, van der Walls forces come into play). You'll get about 10% less shots than you think from the extra air . . .

Go for it if you want, but I just don't think it's worth the effort to get that high . . .

Well I’m pretty sure the k1 has a way bigger tank and slinging 50 grain AVS at full power i need all the air I can get But I tried my compressor on it and it filled it to 5000psi in no time and no problem 🤷🏻‍♂️

I've got to get a different hand pump. I have a vevor but i can't get above 4200 psi with it. I weigh 175, pretty active. I even wore a backpack full of dumbells to get my weight up but no dice. Cannot get the handle to depress once i hit 4200 or so. The pump had a pretty stiff action from the get-go so it may be a bad pump.

Likely just a bad pump or maybe there's too much oil in the system? But once I used the tank or compressor to fill to 250 bar it wouod take about 60-70 pumps to get to 350b, naybe less but I honestly can't remember.

Maybe time for a re-seal. The pump may not be allowing the air to get to next chamber or the last stage seals are dirty/worn out. A re-seal kit should have came with your pump. Could also be a dirty or worn out check ball. 🤔

Sorry been a long time since I went thru mine. I was pumping 2 pumps topping off my tiger shark air tank on occasion.

It is a new pump actually. Would love to have one i can get to 5000 psi. I'll take a look at the valve in the base but have no actual skills to diagnose a new handpump and may just have to try another.

May as well tear it down and see the inner workings. Plus there are plenty of videos on YouTube. Just use a silicone lubricant. If you do end up buying another hand pump consider getting a 4 stage. The four stage is easier to pump but you have to pump more times. I initially bought a 4 stage but found out for my purposes I needed a 3 stage for less number of pumps.
