Other A question about the FX Royale

I’d recently shot a FX Royale in 25 and like many others on other threads have said, it‘s a sweet shooting rifle. My question is, as a tree squirrel hunter, can a guy lean the barrel up against a tree while taking a nature break, or have the barrel touching the tree while taking the shot, or have the bottle tight against the tree while taking the shot, without affecting the poi. These situations are normal for me with the Taipan, with no bottle, and it passes those test but I sure did like the Royale and thought I’d ask. The only negative I had with the Royale was the thumb cut out wasn’t big enough and rubbed the joint. I could have answered this question had I thought about at the time but it escaped me. The right answers might cost me, lol

Absolutely! I lean mine against my deck railing frequently. When using a tree as support, you will probably have the forend of the stock against the tree, but if the barrel or bottle are touching, I believe it will have no ill effects, although I'd probably say it's not a best practice. Almost nothing is as sturdy as the Taipan, but the Royale is plenty stout for hunting.

Yeah you should be fine except I wouldn't shoot with the barrel touching something. Quite frankly on any gun. Harmonics can play into it and causing groups to open up also just pressing the barrel against something can cause a shift. But can be any gun. I was testing different speeds in my Taipan with my FX Radar chrono. Not using my head I rubber banded it to the shroud and airtube. Noticed a POI shift but I had removed shroud to clean the day before so thought maybe it was that. Then noticed groups opened up. This particular gun is incredibly accurate and knew something was wrong. I then realized my mistake and removed the chrono and bam back to single hole groups and dead on POI.

Never a problem (except the nature break part, I have a 72 year old prostate). The Royales APPEAR more fragile than they are. SOLID barrels! Even so, I never rest barrel on something to take a shot but use bottle.
I win, I have a 79 year old prostate, and no problems (to date)! :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO:

I normally avoid having the barrel come in contact with the tree but it has happened before with the Taipan. I‘m out hunting for the skillet so what ever it takes to make the shot I’ll do usually. My average distance I guess is inside of 40 yds although I never use a rangefinder squirrel hunting. 95% of the the shots the Taipan work’s fantastic, as it’s put a lot of food on the table, but the high in the tree directly overhead, is my achilles heel with it. The Royale would just be another tool to use, thus the question. Thanks for the replies!
