Sightron S6 fieldtarget

Ok, the question every FT shooter wants to know about this new scope is the spacing between yardages from 55 to 50 and so on. With the factory 5.75 inch wheel, there is 7/8" spacing from 55 to 50 yards marks. Just getting it set up more to follow. Looking to be shipping late August, hopefully available very soon after.

It is too bad that Athlon and Sightron has been extremely late this year in their New optics turnout. Right now Athlon Etr is 5 months late and I believe Sightron is about the same on their big S6 .

Meanwhile = 3-18x50 element titan mrad APR-2D 3-18×50 FFP MRAD 34 mm scope tube.
Has 300 degrees of rotation on a 6” wheel between 10 yards and 60 yards… insane for great ranging.
And yes I’m also on the waitlist for the new sightron ft but now it’s mid August

I thought I saw a shipment of the 15-60 ETR's show up at venders but they sold out quickly?? There might be some Heras 15-60's around still though??

im pretty sure the Sightron newest FT flagship model hasn't hit the streets yet... but i could be wrong as for the Heras... no comparison to the Sightron Ranging ability.

Latest word is end of August for S6, so far I'm loving the big spacing on far yardages, and very repeatable. No big temp swings lately, just hot here, so can't comment on any changes between Temps. Very positive clicks on the turrets, the lit reticle is super bright on setting 10, with off stops between each step. The magnetic side wheel is amazing, locks on tight, no play in it...

I'm looking forward to this scope... and hopefully a 50% off sale

To me, ranging is top priority. If this Titan is so good, why are you bothering with a Sightron?

I've thought about trying the Titan as it looks like a good scope with good ranging ability. I've read that some people said that the turrets could be a little mushy. After using the ARES line, with super definitive clicks, it would be hard to go back to mushy turrets similar to what I've used on UTG and Hawke scopes. Still, that's a lot of distance between the 40, 45, 50 - 55yd markings... that looks soooo nice.

I’ve only just started using the Titans within the last month, I set two up, both with 6” wheels, both ranging well with 300 degrees spread. Initially they were not on my primary HFT rigs so I’ve only just moved them to my main two HFT guns and have just started vetting them for repeatability etc…

I preordered 2 Sightrons direct from Sightron Jan/feb this year before acquiring the Titans.

My experience is the Titan turrets are solid precise clicks, not mushy, but you have to use a scope for a while to see if they loosen up.

Maybe it ranges slightly better at the longest distances but keep in mind it's overcoming - the wind, and the mental mistakes. Also being better at positional, and sometimes a bit of luck, that determines the winners in FT.

My eyes aren't great and I know I could see the focus distance between each yard from 50-55Y with my ETR.

I used my ETR last weekend in FT and am still amazed how clear it is and am also enjoying the daylight bright center dot. Granted in unlimited division but I got a 47/48. Ha I got a split at 9:00 on the easiest KZ in the match because a small gust caught me and the pellet as the sear broke. I got the four offhands so that helped my score.

I hope somebody in my club buys that new Sightron so I can try it.

apples and oranges, so to speak, as in specifically addressing a scopes capability aside from the shooter, one is a tech thing the others are environmental, mental and physical. That said, i totally agree about what makes a winning shooter a winning shooter. practice and some degree of mental finesse and physical conditioning... did i mention luck? need some luck too esp if ya shoots like i do.

I ordered the Athlon Ares ETR 212108 in Late February which was suppose to be here in mid to late March. Have received to new ship dates from Anthon and both dates missed. Called today and informed sometime in June. I already paid for the scope in March from a popular Dealer and if the June arrival day scheduled is missed I likely will cancel it and order the S6. It was my first choice but I thought I could get the ETR as promised. The only thing I am concerned about with the ETR is the reticle may be too fine for my eyes to see on dark targets. The best scope for any competition shooter or hunter isn't any good if you can't get it on your rifle.

Illuminated helps

I walked into AOA in May and they had the Athlon Ares ETR 15-60 in stock so I grabbed it. The reticle is ultra fine and only the center dot is illuminated. When you put the reticle on a dark target and have to hold for instance 2 MOA high and 2 MOA left, it's really hard to actually see the reticle and where you're holding. IMO, would have been better with a fully illuminated reticle. Might be selling this one off....

The sightron s6 is fully illuminated,. So I shot the S6 in a FT match today. It is a prototype or pre production, I shoot WFTF , I was shooting new gun and the new scope. I've found the ranging to be good, very repeatable, it doesn't snap, but it is easy to get used too. Some that have looked thru it think it is not as clear as other scopes. I think it is as clear as my Kahles. Granted this is a pre production and has been torture tested at Sightron. The clicks are great, positive no mush or slop and tracks amazing. The eye box is tight, which I personally like. The magnetic side wheel is tight and slack free, quite a nice bit of machining. When cranked up in the 90 temperature there is a lot of mirage, but at 60x you're going to see it with a scope designed 9 to 55 yards. Mirage is good for wind reading as long as you still see the kill zone.

So after a week or so, but only 2 real days testing in FT environment, I think it's working well. 62 shot match today only dropped 4 shots, of those 4 shots they were wind call errors on my part, no ranging errors. Managed 1st in WFTF and tied for match high with Scott Schneider, which is tuff to do. I can say I would focus on the block and when I move to the face plate which is a few inches off the front of the block, I could see a focus difference . Will see how it performs at pyramid cup in a few weeks.
