Out of 5 airguns I've bought, first PCP, had a funky regulator, it's a feature apparently can't be fixed until Putin leaves Ukraine. Second one had a bad o-ring on the #1 regular, easy fix but more than I wanted to do with new gun. Next one was pre-destroyed by an idiot...project gun NOW works awesomely. Next was a hand made, carefully assembled and tested prior to shipping with a BAD regulator, sent back, got repaired and returned, I tuned it and it's a tack driver.

I think the issue comes down to standards. As customers it is up to US to set the standard. Gun doesn't work... File a claim and send it back. It doesn't matter to me if a dealer loses their @Ss in shipping costs. Sooner or later, they will learn.

With the exception of a couple of vintage 10 meter airguns I wanted (FWB 300 & FWB 603) I buy new from a reputable dealer to get the warranty and support while avoiding scams.
My supplier (pusher?
) inspects, checks and pressure tests before shipping. I've never had a problem.

Don't get me going on refrigerators and freezers, good luck getting a good one, no matter the price...a few exceptions happen but they are few.I found that it's not just Guns, It's everything these days, just poor quality parts and workman ship on everything practically, I guess finding good workers is like winning the lottery, but keeping them is a whole other story, look at the car industry, nothing but junk, and they want big $$$$$$$ for junk, it's a good thing to know how to fix the defective stuff they sell us, that's why I always buy the fixers, get it cheap and fix it myself for pennies......

All six of my BRKs? Simply reliable “out the box”. Only one user induced issue, I filled my Bantam HR Sniper too fast and dislodged the Oring at the inlet valve. My first a Gamo Urban, zero issues it opened my eyes to what PCPs could do for me. The only PCP that was an absolute disaster for me was the Reximex RP pistol(carbine… Search for “sexy rexy” if you want to know more…

Airguns represent a hobby that requires more preliminary due diligence than most. Beginners are going to suffer without some experienced support.
Granted, some makers do a lousy job of customer service. And some customers do a similarly lousy job of researching the hobby and learning about its demands on the owner. I think the best advice for a new owner is to spend some time with a prospective seller, and learn about the service and repair capabilities.

I buy things way more complex than a stupid airgun and have zero issues. So I’m not buying the whole let’s cut them some slack thing. But….. I was conditioned or brainwashed into that way of thinking for a while. So enamored with my new hyped up toy that I went right to fixing it before I even shot it. That mentality that currently blankets a larger percentage in this hobby than not, will get us nowhere when it comes to QC. But it will keep getting us products released to feed the machine that should have spent more time in the R&D stage. Guns exempt for me are AAA, Taipan and AGT. I can’t judge the more budget stuff because even if it functions as advertised, I have to work it over to get it to my liking.
A lot of bad PCP experiences stem from guys just not knowing what they are doing. But a lot of guys who know what they are doing get bad guns also. Waaaay too many. Like I’ve said before, my one buddy thinks we are a bunch of fools because of what we find acceptable.

I am about 50 / 50 on this depending on what you call defective.
First rifle FX cyclone, worked like a charm, still do over a decade later.
Second rifle the Maverick, well it was a Sub 12 rifle dumped on the Danish FAC market, and its barrel was not terrible good at speed.
I got a ALU bottle with it and a few months later the carbon bottle i was supposed to get so +1 on the bottles, as a downside i had to buy a barrel before i was happy with the rifle.
Third rifle the AGT Vulcan 3, again a smooth sailing rifle, though it do have some quirks as i found out.
And then lately the Epic airguns Two, which had a terrible choke ( in the middle ) LW barrel that was supposed to have no choke., it was however quickly fixed by the company, replaced by a CZ barrel.
This rifle still have the occasional " what was that " like funny sounds when fired and and spring like ping / twang sound "long" after shot fired, but it shoot just fine and i am very happy with it.

I agree, some guys receive a good PCP and immediately “tinker” it into being unuseable then blame the manufacturer…
That said, at +2K prices? Zero excuses, period. I work in a high end woodshop, we don’t let “anything” slide that doesn’t meet the standard. And we QC it all, because large sums are paid for the work and craft. The end users owe it to the rest of the Airgun community not to “sugarcoat” the shortcomings of the latest greatest gun. If you’re a reviewer that gets free product I can somewhat understand the reluctance to call a manufacturer out. BUT! If you paid your hard earned money? You owe the manufacturer nothing because you paid to play… Some are lucky to be able to own multiple high end PCPs, the majority aren’t….

It still blows my mind how I got caught up in the let them slide for bad gauges, barrels, regs, etc. My dumb a$$ bought guns I couldn’t wait to fix. After my buddy b#tch slapped me back to reality, those days are over. I've bought three FX Royals and have never touched them. They shoot now after 1,000's and 1,000's of rounds just like the day I bought them.

The issue is that there isn't a real fix to it besides getting the carm, maple or @Firewalker mags. The mags really only work depending on how deep the skirt is of the pellet

I've purchase one rifle that had to be sent back. Even that one worked for a month perfectly before something went wrong.
Now supposedly tuned rifles have arrived not even remotely tuned. I think some shops tune just for a specific speed and don't really put much thought into how it got there.
