Taipan Ugly/Beautiful

To be clear, I am happy with the looks. My comments were in anticipation of those posted previously on AGN. Perhaps these designs are more broadly acceptable now, with the FX tacticals, Skout, Panda, etc. Close up (ie: for the user) the details are very pretty and the fit and finish is a cut above. No wobbly parts or gritty levers, sturdy bones and a very efficient moderator. Obviously they have also nailed that free floating (but mildly tensioned) barrel.

The ES on 16 shots starting at 200bar was 6fps! I assume it’ll settle. LOL.

Looks like I’ll get 40 shots from 260-180bar, at 54fpe.
The T2 is a real solid gun. Only one I like better is the Epic 2. But it's a longer gun with same barrel length and about 4-5 hundred more. Taipan will do what they do, and they do it well.

Wondering if a Mutant standard would drop in that chassis stock. I really like the look.
You know, I am not sure. It is held by 2 bolts, one under the front of the trigger guard and another inside the grip. If the Mutant is using the same wood stock as the Veterans, then it should fit properly.

I have a good mix of guns, but these always are at the top of the list for performance and always working well. Both do pellets and slugs well and they are both .22. @weevil - keep shooting it. The more you shoot, the better it gets!

Good looking pair 😁

I have a 100y range and bench out back and the weather is just about to drop below 90, so I’m looking forward to evening benchrest therapy. I’m strongly considering competition and this might be the right tool. I’ve competed in biathlon for 25 years but the latest injury is likely a dealbreaker. I’ll continue coaching the shooting but I don’t think I can ski hard any more. I better start putting some coins in the Altaros piggy bank.

Here's my first group with the Vet II Tactical 550mm. Varmint Knocker 22.5g slugs. I can interchange the JTS 22.07 with these slugs and get damn near the same accuracy. Certainly more than enough for hunting with either. Hammer spring has not been adjusted. This equates to 42 fpe on the slugs. I'm certainly happy.

Plenty of power for me! Sounds great. This might be my next gun in the future.

Pfddi. Very nice! Have you changed spring or reg pressure on any of your Vet 2s?

Now for the christening pic:

Absolutely NOT ugly !!!

There are far to many "Pretty" airguns that spend most of there life plonking pellets or slugs at 50yds or less.

Results at 100yds + are much much more appealing and rewarding than distances you can basically throw rocks at !!

Very nice shooting and very nice rifle!! (y)
