Airforce Talon P Carbine .25

In this age of fancy Airguns the Talon P .25 has managed to wow me. She’s a light weight ,pretty compact, single shot rifle producing 45 foot pounds with the Hades pellets. She’s capable of a lot more power. The chances of a leak are almost none because she has 4 o rings. The chance of poi shift is 0 because the barrel sits inside the gun and is held in place by grub screws so no bumping can set it off. She has lifetime warranty and is US made with the exception of the LW German barrel. The trigger is great and the only thing to adjust is the shoe. The caliber can be swapped for less than $200. There’s only one adjustment and that’s the power wheel. You don’t want to crank on it you’ll just waste air. Without a moderator she’s loud so I leave the can on all the time. She’s got a bell curve to her shot string because she’s not regulated but that’s the beauty of it . If it doesn’t have a regulator it can’t fail, I found she likes being filled to 2500-2000 and she’ll give you 10 consistent shots . I’m talking less than 24 foot spread. I can stretch it by filling to 2600 and stopping at 1800 but the ES increases but at 35 yards it’s in the same hole. 10 shots doesn’t sound like much but believe me when you add the time for reloads it’s a lot of shots especially for hunting. This is my most reliable gun. I had sold it but bought it back (thank you). I’ve owned it probably 5 years with 0 issues. It’s a look only a mother would love but honestly I don’t mind. I had a Condor SS .25 and Talon SS. I don’t mind they got sold but I’m glad this one is back,

Yeah absolutely. I’m just a regular guy that’s owned too many Airguns and Airgun accessories which has given me a ton of experience and comparisons. Im not sponsored or given anything. I buy everything and if it’s worth it I’ll write something. Currently im down to 9 and this gun is one of them along with Edguns, BRK and a Notos. Don’t hesitate to buy it they’re awesome

I’ve been able to accurately get 50 fpe with 33.95 MK2 JSBS but prefer Hades and lighter pellets because the platform is able to produce more consistent shots than heavier pellets. I’ve owned a condor SS 25 it was producing 67 fpe accurately with 33.95 pellets. Best part it was done at 2500-2000 psi. I’ve tagged a crow at a 100 with the Condor in the wind it just didn’t care.

Great gun and writeup could not agree more.

If you ever need a change, put an 18 inch barrel on it for a great little carbine that can hit 80 fpe with a heavier projectile, if i recall.

One interesting thing about these valves is if you load a heavier slug, the valve stays open longer generating more power, under most circumstances. So you may find yourself swapping from a light pellet to a heavier one and find the POI does not drop as much as anticipated as the gun "rises to the occasion" so to speak. It had me really confused once i started using a chronograph until someone explained what was going on because I was shooting heavy pellets expecting them to slow down proportionally to their mass but that was not what was happening.

Thanks for that info! I am still pondering .22 or .25. I shoot more target than I do hunt, but I see that the .22 is no slouch either. I just have not found any info on shooting lighter pellets at 900 FPS or less.

Throw in 25 or 34 grain .22 pellets and you’ll have .25 power and accuracy. These guns don’t like anything below 800 fps at least mine

They’re interesting creatures with unique habits and yes easily transformed into a whole different animal for not a lot of $$

I foolishly sold my (first) TalonP, regretted it so much I bought another one a couple of years later. Maddog stock is one of the best mods for this “pistol”. I went with the bigger Condor bottle for more shots. Switching back and forth between Ronin and STO Falx, I think I like the Ronin better. Not as compact as stock, but not too long either.

Agree that the MadDog is the best additions to the TalonP. I also went with a larger bottle. Mine was a paintball bottle that was almost exactly twice the capacity of the original. It gives me a llot more shots per fill.

The TalonP is one of my favorite guns and that includes my powder burners.

Would you classify this as a <50y combo? what scope are you using?

Right now it’s just a Hawke Vantage 3-9x40. I have an Optisan for it but the hawke will allow my Tactacam to be used. I’ve pushed it to 35 but I’m really curious about longer distances. I certainly don’t except hole in hole at 75 but ground squirrel I’m ok with.
