Stoeger Bullshark XM1 safety

NO , you can not see the spring or ball ,,, they only apply pressure to the safety button, if you remove them, the safety button will come out.

P-15,,, but same trigger

Gotcha, I guess tomorrow I will see if by screwing it in, it engages the safety when I put it in safe.

This picture comes from my newer P35-22, just for a change of pace. The gun fires when the trigger is a little further pulled than this. It is not possible for the trigger to move to this position with the safety engaged. The safety pin prevents it. The safety pin engages the bump in the trigger housing you can see right behind the shiny end of the safety pin.

Can you take a picture from the side like this of your gun in the approximate fire position for the trigger?

I agree with jarmstrong, I think the problem is with the trigger guard and a picture straight from the side like my last one would make that conclusive. If it is the problem, one of the previous owners modified the trigger guard or installed one from another gun. I think the latter is more likely but who knows. The trigger guard can be unscrewed if the action is out of the stock. Four little screws. If you lack the bump in the trigger guard the safety needs to best "fix" is to find the original trigger guard. If that is not possible I suggest contacting a Stoeger dealer. The Bullshark I tuned for another member was a replacement he got from a Stoeger dealer when he damaged the baffle stack. He told the dealer it was his fault but they just took his gun and gave him another gun for free. You might be offered the same "fix" but if not, maybe they would swap your trigger guards for one from a gun they are returning to SPA. It is also possible to buy parts from SPA but they seem to only ship parts when they ship guns and only to gun dealers. I did it through Krale (dealer for P35s) and it took about a year.
If I had to go that route I would modify the trigger guard to use in the interim. It seems possible to remove the trigger guard and tap in a grub screw to provide the same function as the bump. It just has to block the trigger from rotating much when it is in the "safe" position. I would drill and tap it from the outside of the trigger guard. Getting the position right would be a little tricky. But it seems possible.

screwing the set screw in more will NOT fix your safety problem, it will just make it harder to push back and forth
you are missing the hump on the trigger guard itself, that the safety button catches ,,, see Jim's photo

I think I found the problem, I can't say for sure atm since I'm at work but the trigger guard is backwards from the looks of it.

I agree. Looks like you just need to unscrew it, flip it, and screw it back on. I would also relax that spring unless you really like relatively heavy trigger pulls. Just loosen the grub screw and let the spring relax some and retighten it. First stage will get much lighter and the second stage will go down by the same amount but will not go to less than a pound. You might not was the first stage as light as I have it but that is pretty much a maximum spring setting so the trigger is probably around 3 lbs.

My trigger is currently at about 1lb as a 2 stage. Hopefully I won't have to redo the trigger adjustment when I flip the guard. Thank you for the help, it's much appreciated!
:D problem solved
Thank you for chiming in and helping out! I will reach back out tomorrow with the results!

:). I am very happy you were able to solve this and that the solution was, in the end, so simple. That first stage trigger spring still looks like it could get relaxed but hey, it's your gun and if it works to your satisfaction then it is good.
Thank you. And yes, so far it is perfect! Now I just gotta see what it likes to eat 😁 thanks again for the help!

My P35-25 is my least accurate P35 with a best 30 yard challenge score of 194. That was using JSB Heavies MKII. I'm assuming your P35 is a 25. It was pretty accurate with H&N FTTs with my previous tune. It was pretty much the stock tune. But my P35-177 absolutely hates JSB knockout slugs which others report great accuracy with. The other bullshark I did a little work on in 22 shot H&N Baracuda Match the best of any pellet I tried in it which is the favorite of my P35-22 (has done a 200). So it's hard to say. If you are indeed shooting a 25 I would definitely try the FTTs and JSB Heavies. Without a power plenum the heavies won't be doing more than 750 fps but that wouldn't be terrible. But your's could like 25.4s. FTTs did great on squirrels. I never lost one and most of the 18 I shot with them were DRT (16 of 18). The 22 caliber Baracudas my P35-22 prefers are actually heavier. But who cares. A pellet in the right place makes much more difference than how heavy it is or exactly how fast it's going.
