FX FX Magazine O-ring size

I've had several either fall out or get chewed up to the point that I just remove them. It's a bad design, IMO. In my guns there is enough friction to still securely hold the mag in without the o-ring. So I just leave them out. I've now run them like that for years with zero issues. May be worth a try to see if that works on your gun. And really the only time it needs any friction to hold in place is during the actual cocking cycle. All other times the pin probe is going through the mag and holding it in securely. It bothered me at first, but now I don't even think about it anymore.

Find a large o-ring whose cross section is the same as the o.d. of that small o-ring & cut a thin slice to glue into the magazine. Been doing it for 5 years now & it's an easy fix for not having any of those tiny o-rings. Even if the larger o-ring used isn't quite as wide as the outer diameter of the Original, if you've cut a slice of the right thickness it still works! Because the slice has no hole in middle (like original o-ring) the glue holds better to the flat surface.

:giggle: 🤪(y) Necessity is the mother of invention (a wise man or Frank Zappa once said). The 1st time I ever lost one of those o-rings I had to improvise & that's what I came up with. The one in the picture was that 1st improvisation from 5 years ago! It's worked BETTER & lasted LONGER than the OEM part!
P.S. please spread the word about how special I am :ROFLMAO:

All work well but the FX is my favorite

There are 4 ACE Hardware within a short drive from my house.
None of them had these.
Which does not surprise me since ACE is only a sidestep different from Lowes & Home Despot
And that makes me feel really sad for folks who have never experienced a real old fashioned hardware store

When I was a kid my parents had to move us to a "big city" of almost 18k people so my dad could get a good job. There used to be an Ace Hardware that had retired tradesman on staff that could build you a whole house, and they kept plenty of Ruger Remington and Winchester products in stock. Probably still not a great example of the old days, but that was the best I ever saw.

The loose O-Rings at our ACE are located in the plumbing department by the replacement parts for faucets. They had metric and English sizes available.

The guy that keeps the plumbing department stocked up in the final ACE I went to replied "jeez, your killin' me" when he saw the size I was looking for.
His smallest were approximately 1/4" OD

I went to AMAZON and bought the silicon rings recommended by @BeeZee, and they are working fine so far
