Hatsan Hatsan factory sniper L not reaching claimed fpe

Hatsan has a reputation of reaching or exceeding their claimed energy numbers. I had numerous hatsans and same case with every one.

This factor sniper L should put out 115fpe in 25. I’m getting only 85fpe and i have tried many different pellets.

Reg pressure about 150 bar and hammer adjustment maybe 70% of max seems to give best power.

Do i have a faulty gun or has anyone else got the claimed fpe out of their gun?

I do not know of ANY Airgun Manufacturer that does not inflate fps, fpe or anything else. Their measurements are taken indoors, in a vacuum. It is kind of like all the worthless adverts on TV for anything that ails you. Try and challenge them and they will show you their results and tell you that you did not read the fine print.

I can see that being the case of just about any airgun company, but I have to agree eith the OP. Every Hatsan I have had has always met or exceeded their power levels.

Is your reg maxed at 150b? If not you likely have to increase it or try a heavier projectile.

When maxing out the regulator adjustment screw, regulator takes in 150 bar. In some forums, i have seen bigger numbers in this gun's regulator pressures but i don't no if they are correct or if the were bigger calibers.

So what would be the steps to go trough when i want to make sure everything is right with my gun powerwise?

As said, it's no use contacting Hatsan about this.

Hammer spring tension is not a problem i guess, when the plateu point is somewhere around 70% on the adjustment roll? After that the FPS begins to drop rather than increasing.

So in .25 caliber, you certainly can't do the performance the manufacturer claims with pellets. You have to use slugs at least 55 grain. Set the regulator to 200 Bar and you'll have a higher power output right away and especially you can use the hammer to fine tune the speed of course to get the power indicated by the manufacturer you'd have to get to a speed of about 315 m/s at a weight of say 50 grain

I don’t understandt how jsb heavy 33.95gr can still get same fpe that 46gr slugs i allready tried.

Seems it’s not about the pellet since i have shot For example H&N heavy slugs 46gr 915fps. Jsb heavy 33,95gr 1060fps.

Also i ”calibrated” my chrono by shooting my hw97k and pro sport over it and it gave 14fpe to both so chrono should be ok.

I had a hatsan sniper l in .25 caliber and the regulator went up to 250 bar just fine. If it's not working, there's a defect somewhere. If you want to shoot jsb 33.95 grain and want high power you would have to have a very high velocity. That's not going to solve anything. You'd have to go to slugs and more weight to get higher power. If you don't want to accept that, it's complicated.

Thanks for the info. So I might have a faulty regulator somehow. Any ideas how to get it to go further or should i contact the seller? I’m not afraid to tinker as long i dont break or alter anything.

I personally had a regulator full of vaseline so I took it apart completely cleaned it and just used silicone oil and then it worked fine. Unfortunately I don't have any photos. I had the airbox completely at the beginning when it was made. Now it's gone and I've switched to FX Panthera and Dynamic in .25 caliber and I'm completely satisfied.

Can i get the regulator out easily from the gun so i could check mine? Do i have to remove whole plenum or can i get just regulator out?

I don’t know what happened but when i started to fill the gun with reg adjust wheel set to max, the reg pressure slowly went up to about 200 bar as the compressor filled the gun.

Now im getting decent power, a bit over 100fpe.

One thing wonders me. When having hammer closed. The gun wont keep pressure while filling. Air escapes slowly from barrel. When i cock the gun pressure is building. Normal? This has never happened before.
