Crosman Pistol Accuracy Goals?

Hi all,

Just recently got back into shooting my 1322 and was wondering what accuracy goals were appropriate with pistols?

I work from home and had 15 minutes to kill on a coffee break and banged out this group at 10m. I’m not an old pistolero, just a rifleman looking to broaden the horizon.

So what kinda groups are you fellas looking for? 2moa? 1?

Thanks in advance,

Delta

Thats more a personal question as each person has their own opinion for each use case. I'm an MOA guy as in all my guns better shoot MOA for competition. Now plinking allows much more leeway but I'm still an accuracy nut and wont keep a gun thats doesn't give me MOA or close. So.., all my pistols shoot 1-2MOA from bench or sticks. Similar for my rifles. If your just using that pistol pictured for plinking and such, then its perfect. If your wanting something to shoot matchsticks then no so thats where use case comes in.

looks like some custom parts , can you list these and we can better evaluate your shooting , but honestly your group ,Standing off hand @ 10 meters is darn good for that pistol , not knowing the improvements and who did the work .

Stan in KY .

So parts are mostly out of Alliance Hobby:
Two stage trigger
Adjustable flat top valve
Extended pellet probe
Slightly larger TP
Wood grips
Steel breech
Brass barrel band
Crimson trace 3 moa dot

I did the installation myself.

When I shoot air pistols (Beeman P3, Crosman 2300S) off hand its mostly at 7 yards and most of the time groups are .70 CTC and I'm happy with the results. So I would say that you shooting at 10 meters .82 are much better. To answer your question IMHO if you can keep a 5 shot group off hand within 1" that's some good shooting 🎯. If I had the property I use to have I would keep backing up to see at what distance I fail to keep a 1" group and that would be my accuracy distance. Your at 10 meters (33') that'll get R done :)

Id add one more P to that list....

Preparation...... that gun can likley be tweaked and tuned a bit more to give even better performance. Preparation can also mean, no coffee or high caffience soda before a session, getting into a target shooting mind set, and if possible, a shooting lane location where its quiet.

Practice _should_ close that group a bit.

Precision air pistols (Morini, FWB, etc) can shoot 1-hole groups at 10m (clamped). Obviously groups shot one-handed standing are not one hole, but they can be very small. Just look up what some of the Olympic shooters can do.

I use my FWB P44 at longer distances to practice for BE shooting (one-handed, 22/45). Here is a recent / decent group shot at 60' (10M card)

I'll add one more thing: if there's an airpistol shooting group or matches in your area, attend one of the matches/meetings. Having some one watch your technique and coach is very helpful too. And you meet some more cool folks

you can always wear ear protection ,not for the gun but the area your shooting in noise .

I reckon if not satisfied you buy more pellets and keep shooting till you are or realize it ain't ..🤤

It's just the 3 P's

with that you ether tighten it up or give it up .. your call
Yep. I just like to shoot a lot and I don’t usually have any goals with it, but when you do a lot of something you’ll tend to eventually get really good at it.

You can make a factory 1322 trigger pretty good by just polishing the mating surfaces, using a lighter spring and adding a trigger shoe. Be careful not to lose the little ball bearing for the safety when you disassemble it though.

My own experience with Alliance Hobby wasn't good. I ordered some parts from him and then got an email back stating that he had received my order, but since his was a one man shop there might be delays in processing it. And then I never heard back from him again. I was never charged for anything, so it's not like he ripped me off, but it doesn't really make me want to try dealing with him again.

Pistol accuracy goals should be totally dependent on what particular pistol, of what price, quality and power, what sighting system, your pellet preferences, and your pistol skills. The most accurate air pistols can average 1.5 to 2 MOA at fifty yards.

There's a great boolk on the subject by a multiple State and National Pistol Field Target champion who has been exploring air pistol accuracy and performance for over a half-century.

This is his 1322. I know for a fact he has dropped small pest birds with single offhand shots at 40 and 45 yards (with the factory iron sights)-

Thanks for the little ball bearing tip, I always lose them little balls,
And the rest of you guys with pistols for me it's all about hitting the can, I am not staking pellets with any of my pistols, I am out to kill the can, And if I do put some paper up to shoot all I have to do is hit the paper not the bullseye ,,
