Ive decided to build me a custom .257 chief plan is to get a .257 tj barrel for it and make a new bolt for it and drill out the ports and put in a heavier hammer and heavy hammer spring and bore out the breech for the barrel to fit but the chief tube says only 2000 psi??? I was hoping i could go higher than that

The chief II has a 3000 psi tube. The chief I has virtually no support for parts either. From the valve design, I don't see you getting much power out of it. What grain ammo do you plan to run? Length of barrel?

I didn't break into the 40 fpe range with my chief in 22 caliber with porting and spring work. Good luck.

I built a big bore valve for a marauder .22 i have just to tinker around with. It has a .375 throat and a .300 exhaust port pretty big valve uses a way bigger valve stem and poppet than stock only issue is no matter what psi i fill too it valve locks

I am just wondering if your new longer poppet stem is shortening your stroke length and causing you valve lock issues.

I think i figured it out. Im gona turn down the od of the poppet head a little bit that should fix that issue.
