Inexpensive but pretty decent bipod

My main bipod is a Ajoite UUQ. It is kind of heavy but adjusts for cant plus length and angle and is solid. About $75 last time I looked. I wore out the female threads on the cant adjustment but a helicoil fixed that. I've never used a $300 bipod but I can't believe they would be worth the difference. The Ajoite is solid.

But I like having extra bipods to park guns on when they are sitting around and sometimes I shoot off them. I've been using a UTG "shooters swat" 6.2-6.7 inch bipod. It is the right height for me at my bench and isn't expensive. List is almost $50 but I've seen it for $35 recently. Today I got a copy of this bipod called a BZT101BP from BZTAC. Seems to be functionally equivalent and it was only $20 on Amazon. I mounted it on a rifle but haven't shot off it yet. But I am confident it will be fine with my PCPs. It is also much lighter than the Ajoite.

If you just want something functional and light it's worth what they ask for it. Even the UTG isn't expensive, however.

I went up the bipod chain and stayed with accu-tac. expensive? YES! Is it THAT much better than budget bipods? Some yes, some no. If you are lucky enough to find a very reasonable priced bipod, by all means, get it. I spent the coin on the accu-tac because I loved how it performed, and it will outlast me most likely, LOL!

The only competition I ever shot in I was using my $60 Chinese knock-off bipod & a $10 rear bag. I still scored better than a past champion whose precision front rest probably cost more than EVERYTHING I used. I never understood the vast price differential. If cheap works for me I go with it. Budget dictates I can't afford to spend hundreds more on peripherals. I've tried an expensive Accutac bipod. It felt better than mine but did it make me shoot better? Not in my opinion.

I like the fact that the Ajoite is a little heavier with a wider footprint but I don't think it lets me shoot better. It's just a bit more comfortable to shoot with. I shot 30 yard challenge targets several ways last year to see what I shot best with. My normal way is with the Ajoite, and a home made windage and elevation adjustable rear monopod. I also bought a Caldwell Rock BR front rest and used it with both a rear monopod and a bag in the back. I also shot with the Ajoite and a rear monopod that adjusted only for elevation. I shot 199s with multiple setups. I know one way was my normal way and one was with the Rock but I'm not sure about others. My point is just that it didn't make a lot of difference how I supported the gun. If I wanted to, I think I could shoot a high 190s score with the $20 bipod.

I use the same type of bipod (different brand) on both of my guns.

I take them apart, and grind an extra slot into them so they can sit at either 45 degree or 90 degree. I really like these because they're very simple in construction which makes the above modification easy to approach, and probably the lightest all metal bipod on the market.

A couple years back I bought an atlvas v8 clone that lasted about about a year before one of the legs snapped. But I used the hell out of that bipod and abused it a good bit, so for pnly $25-$30 bucks the bipod was definitely worth it. It worked extremely and I could cant, tilt the head as well as have a full 180⁰ adjustability with 30⁰ settings in between and adjustment of length. They stopped selling them on ebay last I checked.
