N/A The Venom Arms Company Story

Hi, folks! If you’re keen on a dash of history and fancy diving into the tale of the legendary Venom Arms—those wizards of tuning and customization—I’ve spun their story over on my blog. Plus, I’ve thrown in some cheeky articles about the Mach 1 and 2 rifles, along with the infamous Lazaglide tune. Come have a gander!

Interesting article, and hard to find information about these. Here's example of two of these British tuned airguns, a "Venom Hunter" HW97K below, an "Airmasters Mastersport" HW77 above...powerful, smooth, accurate.

Beauties!

Airmasters was a proper interesting lot, and to be honest, they don’t always get the recognition they deserve. When Venom Arms released their Trophy stock with that deep fore-end, perfect for FT shooters, Airmasters, being the resourceful bunch they were, were asked if they could create something similar with a bit more depth ahead of the trigger. Rather than just adding more wood to the stock, they got clever and used a small, light piece of wood, then covered the top in leather to protect it. The first prototype had the leather untrimmed, and, when you flipped it over, the whole thing—upturned—looked like, well, a hamster. Soft and a bit floppy with the loose leather, and that’s how the name "hamster," now famous on FT rifles, came to be.

Are the Vmach glide kits still available for the 97K, AOA used to carry them, they were like $400? Cool history on those guys.

I don’t believe so, but if anyone’s in the know, it’ll be ARC.

That said, there are several top-notch tuners nowadays who do work similar to what Venom/V-Mach were doing back in the day with those gliding kits. Paul Short, Nick Simmons, and Tony Leach come to mind, and dare I say, they might even do it better. Not to take anything away from Venom/V-Mach—they were pioneers—but with today’s improved materials and these lads building on that legacy, tuning has only gone from strength to strength imho.

I’ve spent very little time with this gun. But plan to shoot more. Saying it’s smooth gives it no justice. And holding it, it feels like an extension of you.

Blimey, all that paperwork with it – talk about a blast from the past! If nothing else, it’s a proper slice of nostalgia. Definitely pre-1995, and while it might’ve cost a pretty penny back then, now it’s an absolute bargain. Cracking rifle – hope you have a right laugh with it!
