Armadillo vs fx hybrid

Nice shooting. In my own personal experience with .357 hybrids they expand so very quickly. They really become like little grenades. I’m a bit surprised you got such good penetration out of them. I had to upgrade my hammer weight to shoot heavier slugs to get that penetration. Wish I didn’t have to though those hybrids are crazy accurate.
Does one shoot the armadillo in the head? Can his shell withstand a slug? We don’t have any up around these parts

I’m running an Iray bolt th50c. Hopefully in October I’ll get to test some new stuff coming out. From what I’ve seen it’s going to be good, hopefully I’ll get to do a short review and some videos.

They are a tough critter, the head is constantly moving so I usually shoot just above it, spine. I want to go back to a 357(probably mora when issues are ironed out). I was not able to find the kill shot slug, but it did go in at least 5in and left about a 3in crack in the shell. I double lunged one last night and wasn’t able to recover but I did not see a pass through. I might go back to nsa or hades for less expansion.Nice shooting. I got 13 last year, mostly with hades. I’m trying out some slugs, they are a tough critter. So far hades have done good, but my favorite was the lucky 7 meat punch 357. I want to go back to a 357, the sidewinder s 30 has put in a lot of work since I’ve had it. It’s been a grab and go accurate setup but being a hunter mainly a bigger cal would help.

I don’t exactly know why but I’ve got quite a few on my property and used from 22cal with hades all the way up to 12ga. I’m afraid they will ruin my ponds, I’ve had holes dug in my pond levees. I see them fairly often on my trail cameras. I like running the pcp because they are quiet plus I like stalking up on them. The 204 was fun but way too loud, the local game warden said to drop all of them I can.

@Cranky1 Do you treat the grass for grubs? The last one I saw was big and I came running at it yelling and clapping. It looked at me and leisurely walked into the bushes. I had no gun or stick on me. I could’ve soccer kicked it like the Super Bowl was depending upon this field goal and I’d have been on target. I don’t see the need to stalk up on them. Just be outside first and whack them when they show up. Honestly I’ve driven up on them day and night and they don’t seem to scare at lights or the sound of car doors opening and closing.

Theyre just startng to show up around my area, so I'm hoping my 30 cal m60b gets to smack a few with the PARD DS35 on top. I also have my 110-150 fpe marauder 357 I could use.

I think you may find the 50gr H&N Slug IIs a very nice option. They have replaced my FX Hybrid Slugs as my preferred Slug to shoot out of my FX Maverick VP.

I had been running the 47ish grain nsa. I’ll have to try the H&N. I need to turn the power up some, I like to have a complete pass through and honestly with how the hybrids come apart I don’t think it will happen.

It kinda reminds me of a finger nail, a touch softer and a lot thicker. They stink bad, so I try to just dump them outback. I think the coyote and buzzards have been eating them, I’ll have the shell and bones left after a couple days.

One thing I recommend for dead animal smell is quick lime. I use dolomite quick lime. It’s a very strong base. So it will help break down the animal while leaving the “rot” at a minimum as it acts as a type of soap to help with bacteria but burns as a strong base to help with decomposition or the elimination of anything “soft”. This works every time for me as even the coyotes and other large raccoons won’t touch any of the coons I shoot sometimes 2 a night. Hope this helps!

Heck I’ll look into it, the last one I kinda buried with the skid steer. Trying not to make a lot of scent for deer season.i still haven seen the big bucks this year, they wait till rut. I’m hoping to set my mom up on this one. He looks like an eleven pointer, he is 70yards off my porch.
