It was my first day squirrel hunting this year and the first time I took the .25 GK1. I set it at 850 fps with 25 grains. One of these was 47 yards, and the rest were 30 yards or less. They were carrying hickories and never stopped for more than a second or two. I missed at least four.

The objective on this model is easy to remove), not that it was necessary. Super precise daylight bright dot. JTS 25 grain pellets. They shoot really well at 850 & not so well at 900. I am starting to like this little package, got my limit this morning. 10-50 yards.

yeah, they have been cutting hickories here since the first of September. There are no acorns here for them to compete with this year ( last year was the most significant acorn mast here in 10 years), so I just hit all the hickory trees I know of. Once the hickory here is cut, we won't be able to buy a squirrel. I hope you run into some.

I like the ideas of the .25. I got a .22 air rifle for the first time last year. You notice a knockdown power difference with the .25?

I have taken hundreds of squirrels with both a .22 & .25. Naturally, on perfect shot placement, both are more than lethal. I believe the larger wound channel from a .25 lessens wounded game running in a hole & seems to knock them hard. I don't hear really well, but I can tell from the .25 impact sound when I hit a squirrel vs the .22; it is distinctive. Maybe a .25 can help a tad on those less than perfect shots.,

Recommend you try letting the parts age in the fridge for 5 or 6 days after you vacuum pack them before you put them in the freezer. Can really help to get them naturally tender. It's a similar process to what is used for commercial meats. I usually do mine for 7 or 8 days. Give it a try, you might like it. It's all I do these days and my squirrel is the same tenderness as chicken wings at worst, and fall off the bone at best.

I will try that. I let these soak in salt water in the fridge for 48 hours, then drained and patted dry, and vacuum-packed them. Thanks for the tip.
