Events Extreme Benchrest 2024

Maybe you can help bring guys into N50 by having a bipod and bag division to compete in.
I was content just watching this thread from the sidelines until you mentioned the bipod and rear bag. (Not being an antagonist here, just sharing a cool story. ) The highest score I ever shot benchrest was at an N50 match at Rio Salado a couple years ago. I was shooting a CZ457 LRP rifle with a Lilja Barrel, Harrel Tuner, Tier ! bipod and Protektor rear bag. First card I shot 247 and thought, wow if I can keep this up I could have a very good match. I followed it up with 249, 249. So I have never shot a 250 nor 750 but my 745 was with a bipod and rear bag!:D Dont shortchange the bipod and rear bag setup. It is very capable. (y) Just sayin!
Thx
Dan

Ok Mike, since you ask.

The gold .30 Skout Epoch that I’ve shot all year is firing on all cylinders. Better than when I won in OR and better than making Finals at RMAC.

The SEB AR250 front rest makes an improvement. The AEA 50.5 pellets are an improvement. The barrel mods and gun mods that Augie @Bigragu and I did are an improvement. (Don’t ask, I’ll tell you after EBR)

Now I just need to Vulcan mind meld with Thayne and Val…. 🙄

Here’s a ten shot group I shot this morning at 100 yards in light breeze. I think that’s sub-MOA shooting…. but not with a “SubMOA” barrel. 😉

Holy Moly Mike. That thing is dialed in! Great shooting. Is that the OEM barrel?

Shooting 100 y i dont really get grouping with my pea shooter, but i tear up a 2" target pretty good.
I wish i did cuz really in my book only hole in hole, and preferably on top of the red dot count, so i am constantly working with acceptable levels of inaccuracy here.
I do some times see a part of target bias, but i still wouldn't call that grouping as those shots are rarely made in a row, just 5 - 10 of the 30 or so shots at that particular target.

Caliber envy is not good

Thanks. Now I need to do that in the Finals at EBR.

Not OEM, it’s a .30 FX Superior 700mm 1:40 twist liner. Off the shelf, I ordered that liner online from UA just like anyone else.
Hi Mike, I don’t own a Skout nor am I familiar with their various parts. Just curious if the FX liner is a drop in replacement for the Skout liner or if a lot of machining is required to adapt the FX liner to the Skout shroud? Can you post a picture of your hybrid F-Skout-X? I’m just trying to envision what you are describing.

The standard Skout barrels take a liner just like FX liners, except they are larger diameter (FYI, the .25 cal. 25-inch Skout barrel that came with my gun was VERY good, as good as an .25 FX Superior pellet liner). For a while there (and I no longer think it is offered), Skout would make you a barrel assembly without a liner made to fit the caliber and length FX liner that you wanted. So, in this case I requested a barrel assembly for a .30 caliber 700mm FX liner, and they sent me one, and I installed my own FX liner. Easy day...
So, it's NOT a drop-in replacement. It requires a barrel assembly specifically made for Skout that fits the requested FX liner. Last, I hear now that Skout has a lot of barrel options they are no longer offering that service...

Don’t feel bad Stan. I tried to enter with my 177 Crosman Powermaster 760 and when the powers to be found out that I had a top secret smooth bore pipe they nixed me on the spot. Oh well, I tried…
