So what kind of water do I use to cool my yong heng compressor

I use 5gal soft tap water with 8oz water wetter and 1/2 cup baking soda and I haven't seen any algae in a year. I only need to run mine for 15 minutes at a time and don't use any ice. My bucket has a lid and holes just big enough.
So do you reuse the water an how long do you reuse it for? Where im at there is very soft tap water so should I not bother with the distilled water, why the baking soda should I do some of that as well?

I've been using the same water for a year now and see no reason to change it yet. The baking soda and semi sealed bucket helps prevent algae. The soft water is much better than distilled water.

really? what kind of water? lol i use the one that comes out of my hose in the garage, lol... still cant believe this question was asked lol.. i can see about what oil to use in them but what type of water to cool it with? lol come on give me a break
Hey man there are minerals in the water overtime if you are running hard water use some vinigar to clear up the build up I done so much research before dropping the dime on yong heng an the accesories.

Dont wanna break anything.
break anything? it would take years and years of use to even see any build up from bad water,etc... this is an expensive hobby and if your worried about a $250 compressor then you should probably find a differnt hobby, if i get a year out of one im happy, throw it in the trash and buy another one, i dont waste my time rebuilding etc...i had mine for about a year and its still working but when it does crap out it goes into the trash, i bought 2 when i got mine to have a spare, you should probably be focusing on good oil for it instead of worrying about what water to use..

Seco lube in mind so far any other better oils, I also want to maybe start it with a cheaper one but I dont know royal purple? for the first few runs as it breaks it that oil goes bad quick. seco lube shipped to washington from florida I get like charged 28 dollars for shipping to washington state lucky to yall if you guys are closer its really great for my it runs 23.75 a quart, royal purple runs at 21.58 a quart so a 2 dollar diffrence at least for me I think for some of you folks closer to florda can break even with royal purple prices for seco lube 500. Should I just start to break it in with seco lube Im buying a gallon?

I know this thread is a Year old, But I too am just breaking in My new HY. I just used tap water and an 8 lb Bag of ice. The Ice melted quicker that I thought. Should I use like Bottled water? Reg water and an additive? I have just read allot of Variables. Also, does a HY compressor run cooler after a break in period? I Had to babysit mine alot as the temp climbed pretty fast. I Put 2000 psi into a 30 min SCBA but had to monitor the Temp. Any help would be appreciated.

Do you know much about your tap water? Like, what kind of mineral deposits are in it, and what the ph is? If there's not too much calcium and the ph isn't extreme you're probably fine with tap water. Maybe run it through a simple charcoal filter or a micro filter if you're particularly worried about sediments.

If you have extreme ph or a lot of potentially dangerous mineral deposits you might want to do something more significant. You can adjust the ph by adding chemicals. You can sediment-out a lot of dissolved materials, again with various chemical additives.

Most places have pretty good documentation on the typical composition of tap water. Whomever supplies your tap water likely has a ready analysis available. Here a basic analysis costs a little under $200.

Pet stores where they sell fish would be a great place to get a basic analysis, as some fish are extremely sensitive to things like ph and dissolved solids.

And you should be careful not to remove too much dissolved materials, as you run the risk of essentially creating distilled water, which will dissolve the interior plumbing of your pump. You just want to remove the worst dissolved materials. If you remove a lot of dangerous dissolved materials you'd want to add something else to compensate.

I'm using a 16 gallon pet food barrel, filled with soft water and an upgraded aquarium pump. That's it. It's all about volume.

The temperature gauge on the compressor won't exceed 34 degrees Celsius when I fill my air cylinder to 300 bar.

That's waaaaay below the mandatory shut off temperature.

Theres no seal or shaft ?
Here’s a cross section of a magnetic drive centrifugal pump. There’s a motor that spins a cup that has magnets in it. The “wetted” portion of the pump has another magnet section in it that also spins because the motor driven cups magnetic force. There is no mechanical coupling of impeller to the motor, strictly invisible magnetism.

I use distilled with antifreeze. I also have an old radiator fan blowing on the compressor fins. My 120 to 12 vdc converter just died so I need a new one. Red die is a great idea. I pull the return tube to verify flow. Have fan mounted on the box the yen’s compressor came in. Worked great. Ordering new AC to dc convertor and looking for red die
Do you have the option to run it on DC? those small compressors with the option to use 12 volt dc or plug in a power unit to create the 12 volt dc DO NOT make enough amps to run those compressors properly. They have 300 or 350 watt 12 volt DC motors in them to make the compressor unit work. A 300 watt 12 volt DC motor requires 29.4 amps when it’s under full load. This is why your power supply unit gave up. Using that power unit made my small compressor run hotter than hooking it up to a vehicle battery. the best place I know of to get high amperage 12 volt dc power is from a running vehicle. I couldn’t find any power supply unit that created enough amps to properly run compressor anywhere. So I got brand new 00 copper wire jumper cables and took the battery clamps off one end and spliced my plug for compressor to that end, this gave me a 20 foot extension cord to run compressor inside in conditioned air. the linkage finally came loose and binded up on my little compressor. i replaced it with a Yong Heng. I don’t need the jumper cable extension cord anymore for running compressor because Yong Heng have 110 volt motors. I don’t know where you are, but I would give those thick jumper cables I turned into a compressor extension cord to anyone that could use them to run their compressor for free just because they just lay in my shop collecting dust now. Someone should get some use out of them . I have 2 other sets so it’s pointless to turn them back into jumper cables. Of course using a running vehicle may not be an option for you , or you may know where to buy power supply unit that makes enough amps, I could never find one, if that is the case you wouldn’t need the heavy extension made from the cables. If you could use them and your interested just PM me and we will figure out the best way to send them to you. Good luck whatever way you go with it though.
