Hit the woods about 6 AM, went to a favorite spot, saw two, had one clean miss, not sure why, as the shot felt good.
A couple of pics of the surroundings -
Was a little discouraged, as the stretched P-Rod wasn't cocking like it should, took two attempts after that miss, so after getting it to cock, decided to move on -
Settle down in a spot nearer the WMA entrance, and was able to stalk one I heard barking, and again I got lucky as he closed the distance and stopped on a limb when it saw me, big mistake,
bogie #1 DOWN!
Picked up the first kill, and sat under a nearby hickory tree with a good view, after 10 minutes or so, saw one to my far left trying to sneak around me, stretched P-Rod says not so fast!
bogie #2 in the bag -
After two kills in one spot, decided to move up the hill to overlook a little draw that now has a small run-off pond from all the rain.
I sat down at the base of the hardwood in the left background of the above pic and waited. After less than 10 minutes bogie #3 shows up at the waters edge, I suppose for a drink, big mistake - my longest shot of the day, close to 45 yards.
bogie #3 down
Starting to get a bit warm, so with three in the game vest, I decided to make a slow walk & stalk back to the truck. After covering less than 40 yards , I jumped one on the ground, and got off a lucky off hand shot when it stopped to give me a look see -
Thanks fellas for letting me share one of my favorite things, hunting chicken of the tree with an Airgun!
