Huben All Things HUBEN K1 - Master Thread

i have a .25 2020 k1. it’s only jammed once and it was because i was using cheap apolo slugs lol. jammed after i commented that, “it shoots those apolo slugs perfectly” on one of the posts here. it could have just been a bad batch… it was shooting them accurately but i’d rather not have it jam so don’t use those anymore. i have the non-rifled magazine and it shoots .248-.251 NSA perfectly.
i think jams can also be because of bad magazine to chamber alignment.

On the plus side I’ve managed to set my reg to 100 bar and it’s shooting jsb 18.13 at 900 fps with really good consistency. Hopefully the jsb monster lights will perform well when they arrive later this week
I got some of those lights coming to try in mine. The fx 18.1 shot really well in mi e at 905 as well.

I used to shoot the apolos and had the same jamming issues if I tilted the muzzle down when firing. If you were to have a mag misalignment you won't be able to shoot any kind of ammo without the gun completely jamming. The mags are oversized and aren't always the same size. They can turn out to be .2213, .222, .223 .220, etc.

That's right, I trade my k1 for your vulcan 3 .25 the only slugs it like were .254 nsa. I could shoot 5 shot groups at 140yds with all the shots touching. Most of everything else was bleh.

Had I know what I know now I would've told you to contact TJ, or VK because they have .250 sized mags
@JaceSpace1369 Who has .250 mags? Are you saying that TJ and Varmint Knockers sell Huben mags?

@drsquall They do shoot well. I shoot mine in the high 900s to low 1000s. Have you had any issues with the 18.1 grain pellets moving around in the mag after seating them?
No sir but I seat mine with the pen and I carry my gun barrel up or down and never had an issue. Even the hades have been good for me

@drsquall I usually seat mine with a pen or a short section of weed eater string. Somehow they manage to become unseated. Not a major issue for punching paper, but a bit problematic for hunting when a random misfire can occur.

Yeah that wouldn't work for me. I have some of the aea 21gr and they shoot well also but I like the softer lead pellets. With the aea or JTS the barrel tends to need to be cleaned more and you pretty much can't mix up shooting the softer lead pellets with them because they will not shoot as good after the bore has been seasoned with the aea. They are great pellets and very consistent and I think you can push them a little faster than the softer lead. All just my opinion.

Yes, VK has a few mags but TJ makes custom barrels and has made .250 mags. Not sure TJ has any mags atmz but you can ask.

That is my reality, I've been able to shoot the AEA faster than JSB or FX, unless we start talking aboit the 25.39gr those I can shoot at 960fps and the AEA it's done really good at 970-980fps.

@JaceSpace1369 Thanks for that. Do you have links to these mags? I have never seen a Varmint Knocker website. I had to order the slugs from eBay.
Go on Ebay and type in varmint knockers, then contact him. I would also contact kelly from krazcool to see if he needs would align the barrel to the mag. I'm not saying that it would or wouldn't, but it's not a bad idea to do so just incase. Remember that you can take out the mag without messing with the barrel alignment

I’ve been using the jsb 18.13 in 5.53 head size. The 5.52 do seem to move sometimes
@nathandore I would think that the skirt is more of a concern with the pellets remaining seated, but I'm unsure. I can feel a little resistance when they are pushed forward a tad in the seating process, but I can't figure out what causes them to become unseated. It's not like I'm bumping the gun into a bunch of trees or dropping it on the ground. It does get moved around when I have to twist, squat, crawl, or duck walk through animal trails in the undergrowth and thickets in the woods.

@JaceSpace1369 Since you did that and your stated results were your results then it sounds reliable to me. I shoot them in .22 on occasion. I haven’t taken much time with them. I shoot pellets with much more frequency. I have some Varmint Knockers and haven’t shot them yet. Do you still have your Huben? I saw an add you placed looking for a .22. I almost PMed you, then I pulled mine out again, shot it a little, verified my DOPE and started hunting with it again. Still not my favorite to tote through the woods, but I’ve nailed four squirrels so far with medium weight pellets. 2 with lung shots, 2 with brain shots shooting 18.1 grain domed diabolo pellets.
Also all of his other ammo has always served me well from .177 to .30 cal. The sizes are consistent, the lead is super soft, the expansion is better than anyone else out there due to how deel the cavities are. BC is lower than almost every other brand but even then that hasnt stopped me from taking iguanas out to 150yds. They also can be shot with great accuracy and still amazing expansion down to 730ish fps.

@Ezana4CE - I use JSB Mk II Redesign 33.95 in my K1 .25. I seat them in and all have a tight fit in my gun. I tried some JTS with no luck. I would seat them but some would drop out. I also use slugs from NSA and Alteros that are .254 and have never had a "loose" problem. I tend to shoot the pellets more as most things I'm hunting with the K1 are 100 yards are in closer, so the need for that extra range is not there. The follow up shots and the excellent trigger are my main likes of the K1 (and GK1!).
