So I've been getting tons of coyotes around my property that have no regard for my dogs or myself earlier today one was out watching my chickens within 20 yards . I have some rolling hills and dense brush out side my property line so anything over 75 yards and won't be able to get a clear shot . I currently have a .25 cal hansan 95 vortex that I use for ground squirrels but don't think it's strong enough for coyotes. So looking for a new rifle that i can reliably use thinking .30 or .357 what would yall recommend? Would like to stay under 600 bucks

If you are in AZ or neighbor state, Would you like to try out my Daystate Delta 30? You will feel more confident with it but I do assure you 22 will drop yotes without a peep if you know your shot placement. I'd be happy to do use my .22 as a back up for the closer ones.

Personally, I'd do a .30 diablo pellet that is well known for being able to send slugs well right out of the box or with very minimal extra cost, like FX's sleves
My delta is not a $600 budget rifle but you'll know for sure if .30 is what you want.

One other thing, 30 and even 30 slugs won't cut through a lot of brush, and even one tiny branch will toss an 30 aside frustratingly easy, however one of the air rifles that shoot arrows as well will cut right through brambles.
AoA has a used one for sale in the used section right now. I know that wasn't what you were thinking but it does solve the problem a little better.

Thanks I'm in Southern California high desert. Was thinking a 22lr within 50 yards but figured a airgun would be alot safer with some neighbors close by probably 500 yards .
Didn't even think of arrows didn't know some air rifles could shoot them

If you use arrows, DO NOT use field points. That is a solid way to end up on the news with a pin cushioned animal walking around. Arrows kill with a cutting edge broadhead. Field tips will reduce penetration and there is no hemorrhaging from them ice picking into tissue. Use a large expandable blade head and put it behind the front leg.

The SPA 60B and the Umarex Zellos are almost the same gun and around $600. The 60B comes in 30 and 357 caliber as well as 177, 22, and 25. The Zellos is just 22 and 25. If you want to take body shots and not have the coyote run a lot I would get at least the 30 caliber and the 357 might be a better idea. The 60B is not a real powerful 357, probably about 100 fpe, but a bigger hole will make the coyote loose blood faster. Trajactory would be better on the 30, however. But for 50 yards or less, I like. the 357. Airgun Archery Fun doesn't have them in stock but is taking preliminary orders.

The air rifle arrows will give you the giggles. They are terrifyingly cool and accurate. I wish I had one they are just too specialty for me. But your specific task calls for it. There is always one for sale used around somewhere but that is really a testiment to how much people usually keep them. But check out a video of the FX one it is too cool to be a real thing.
I'm in PHX and always down to zap some yotes that's like a 6 hour drive? Shoot, worth it. I'm pretty handy on the coyote call too.

hi hatson 95you got is break barrel , if you want a pcp to hunt with you also need a tank or compressor or both , , you need to fill it , I have gotten over 20 yotes with pcp in 22 , 25 and 30 calibers , i found 69 pounds fpe in 22 cal with 36 grain slug like mp slug solid point , with 30 cal i gotten them with 100fpe with 57 gr my 52 gr and 88 grain glugs they drop in their tracks with them out to 75 yards , all my pcp guns i got yotes with were edguns and evols and 1 with a tiapan 22 ,but all guns were over 600 bucks , u can buy used here also

I wouldn't use a .22lr on a coyote, note I haven't shot a coyote...yet. BUT if you absolutely want to drill it through the head a .17 HMR will leave a heck of a mark easily at 125 yards. Not as much fun as a air gun though but way cheaper.
