Velocity for .22 cal FX Hybrid Slugs?

@Michael is correct choked barrel, and velocities nothing over 940, and nothing under 870, that 70fps curve seems to be magic for them.
Interesting. I just spoke to someone who gets a lot of trigger time with them. He said 980-990 FPS is the sweet spot. And that both standard liners & heavy liners have produced great results, but more-so the heavy liners.

*Corrected typo, should’ve said 980-990 FPS

I have spent extensive time with them in .22 for probably three years. Not because I think they are a good slug, but because they are a safe slug. I can only speak on the 500mm FX liners. There was a considerable difference in a Hybrid vs a real 30gr slug that my gun also shoots. The gun is a beastly pellet gun with the Hybrid tune. It’s a more dangerous weapon with the 30gr tune. In 500mm, I haven’t had luck with a heavy liner. But I use it for my 30gr. I won’t argue with trigger times 880-890fps. But my gun has had various tunes in the 920-935 range. And that’s where it’s been set for quite a long time. When someone says they have good luck with them at pellet speeds in all calibers, I believe them. I’ve also experienced it in 22, 25 and 30 caliber. I’m not a paper puncher so I have no use for a pokey slug. 920 is my minimum or I move on.

Lube em. They’re soft and like a guy after taco night, they leave skid marks.

I just tuned it up. I won’t have time to test it until next week.

I am curious if the higher velocity of 990 FPS is ideal for the heavy liner. I’d prefer to keep this airgun a pellet pusher (and hybrid slug shoote) with the standard liner.

@Vetmx are you using the standard liner at 940 FPS?

Yes. And another yes about the heavy liner and speed. My little .22 500mm may shoot the Hybrids with the heavy liner if I went warp drive with them. But I never tried. I don’t want that gun sending stuff super fast. I did test up into the 960’s with the standard liner and the gun had consistency issues. Mainly fliers ruining good groups. I did have a dual tune at a reg setting with the heavy liner for MRD’s and a slug. I’ll look at my notes and see if I jotted it down.

I just went through my first notebook of notes on that gun. Good grief. I found where I was shooting MRD’s with the heavy liner at their happy speed but it didn’t like Hybrids at the same settings. One thing I did see and will pass along is a Hybrid vs a 18.1 pellet on the same setting is 100fps difference. If you’re going to try to dual projectile tune your gun, you might want to stick with a standard liner. If your pellet is going to be a MRD, then probably try it with a heavy.

Shooting M4 standard 600mm, with three similar weight projectiles. Javelin 21 gr slug, NSA 20.2 gr slug and AEA diabolo 21.9 gr. The Point of impact is very close at a 35 yard zero, the only adjustment is for the NSA 20.2 needing 3 clicks of up elevation to achieve the same POI. Very happy with the Impact platform, my first supersoaker!! Tuned for the Javelins at 940 the velocity for the AEA pellets is around 920.
