N/A $250 pcp

I'd like to hear from those who own one of the $250 and under pcp rifles. I'm thinking specifically about: (.177)

Gamo Arrow
Diana Stormrider (gen-2)
Beeman Chief 2
Hatsan AT44
Plus any I missed

I'm looking for: at least good accuracy (not expecting great), ease of resealing as they all leak eventually, parts availability if needed and decent shot count.

If Gamo would make the Urban in 177 I wouldn't be posting this thread.....I'd happily fork over the extra $50 as I've loved my Urban 22.

Thanks in advance for any replies!

Oh buddy. We all started there. 2008 I went with a Discovery. All modified. 10 Marauders, 3 AZ Rapids, about 50 tuned springers and a slew of every other PCP that was new from then to 2021.
I should have started with & kept a AZ.
The Marauders, all Benjamin are really good for the value.
I wouldn’t go less than them but look at the DAR Dynamic Air Rifle.
Or save a little & get a $800-$2500 buy once cry once keeper. These are addictive and in your face like everything else.
Hunting or plinking sub 2” at 50 for $250 probably. Maybe 1”-1.5”
I would watch the forum and start following guys you know are legit, buy used from them. They’re buying new stuff all the time and great deals abound.
If you buy a $250 entry expect to keep or never get much for it. All things to consider

Thank you!

I'm not new to the game, I'm on my third marauder, started on a discovery also and have an Urban. Just looking for a fairly accurate, dependable plinker

I'd recommend a umarex notos of you are right hand pistol shooting, just because the cocking lever is on the left side.. comes with a stock and very accurate for the price..I never put my stock on, bought factory grips and open sights..note that open sights ONLY work for it in pistol form unless you remove your eyeball and put it on the stock..
that said the pp750 is pretty much identical to the notos but it's cocking lever is on the right side..
you can get the pp750 from air gun archery fun in Canada.. Wes is very good to do business with..
the notos, especially if you do ANY mods you can't get parts.. but that said it's almost identical to the pp750 and Wes will sell you parts..
another member here.. firewalker has some parts and does mods.
mine from the factory was almost 800 fps with crossman premier hollow point 14 grain pellets..

Yupper, go buy a supercar instead of a sedan...

The Notos isca great way to get into PCP guns. I have topshelf guns but I'm still buying Notos for fun!

@Cbourbeau32 , I'm an old Noob with air guns but have some serious experience with powder burners. Due to a move, shooting powder burners is nigh impossible for me now. I too really am more interested in .177. Recently I thought the Reximex RP was going to be an alternative, but have since decided I can't take a chance on an "unproven" .177 carbine/pistol and canceled my order of one.

One of my old powder burners buddies who has some air guns, including an FX mKIII, had a Notos delivered to me, after gifting me a mint FX Streamline .22. I sure wish it was .177 but heck, you can't argue with success. The Notos has to be the Ruger 10/22 of air guns. I sort of love the Notos.

I don't think there is a Notos equivalent in .177 right now. I have a .177 Stormrider, it is too long and requires too much fiddling around unless you just like it as a 17FPE .177 that has a bit of a bark at OEM pressures. To make the Stormrider a better gun you need to get an Altaros regulator and mess around with the hammer spring which requires some fiddling which I have done. The Stormrider is nice because it is very light weight, and for me is very accurate. I had a Beeman Chief too, gave that away but it is fine for what it is.

The coolest .177 I have ever seen that is handy and accurate is the AA S200 I acquired that someone put in an aftermarket trigger and is tuned to 12FPE. It is a "quiet" Lazer with 10.34 JSBs. Unfortunately not all S200s work as well as mine because I purchased a near new T200 that had an awful trigger & bolt action compared to my old S200. I gave the T200 away to a fella who likes to fiddle even more than me. Good riddance I said.

I have been looking for a "great" .177 that is Notos-like at its price point, I am pretty sure it does not exist.

Get a .22 Notos. There is a rumor that a .177 kit might be forthcoming but do not hold your breath. Just get a Notos, a GX CS4 compressor and a million rounds of JSB Exact Jumbo Heavy 18.13 domes.

(Air gun Revisions) Rich has the Akela 177 cal. "Refurb's" for $210.00 dang good price and get his tune kit (springs - o-rings) for more shot count. Worth giving him a call as he stands behind what he sells from what I have read. I had one and it was very accurate. Good luck Darell

just get a pp750.. it's the same as the notos other than the cocking lever is on the right side and notos is on the left..
you can get them from airgun archery fun in Canada from Wes.. 177,22,25 and I once think I saw a 30 custom pp750

If one is to buy the pp750 I suggest to buy some of the aftermarket mags that Wes sells also,

my original 22 mags sucked YMMV. Did I say I love my pp750 lol

I don’t know about the Diana Stormrider but I have a Bandit and a Chaser in .177. I think the Stormrider is the rifle version of the Bandit. Same breach, same mags, same trigger but longer air tube and barrel. With the long carbine barrel from the Chaser on the Bandit it’s very close to a Stormrider. The Bandit accuracy is good so I would assume the Stormrider is also. Trigger needed a some polishing and adjusting it is good. Not as good as my Challenger or Prod trigger but very respectable. 2900 psi fill pressure is easy to deal with. The Stormrider has been around a while so plenty of information on them. Parts can be sourced from Canada or eBay fairly easy.

Since you have some experience and can handle some minor qc problems, that you might get, (but I have not by the way) I would recommend a re-furbished Hatsan Flash of any type, or Vectis. I paid $225 for a Vectis .177 years ago and have never had a problem. The accuracy is outstanding with pellets and with NSA 12.5gr slugs I can shoot .75" at 75y! I did nothing to the gun since I have owned it besides adjusting the hammer once and cutting off the muzzle break to use my own Tanto that works great. People will pile on and tell you that they are garbage but mine has, and continues, to shoot great.
