how do they FORCE you? just walk away and quit crying,,, and don't pay and don't get the product
PayPal is a souless corporation,,, non human, it does NOT care who pays as long as they get paid
If you list an item for example $2000. And then ask the buyer to pay the fees or they won't ship it till you do, that is force. Sure they not putting a gun to your face. But telling someone to do this or they not gonna send the item is being force. Either I pay the fee or im not getting my item even though I paid asking price. That is force. Force doesn't necessarily means they pin you to the ground and tell you to eat sht or die. Lol

Realize that is just shy of a $70 hit your asking seller to absorb / eat :cautious:
Don't wish to pay $70 more than the 2k asking price ? Find another payment miens or walk away.

And lets not forget .... You could be paying TAX which for a lot of us is way more than 3.5%

That is not force, you still pay if you want it. Or just get a refund. Most people selling in the classifieds are not a store either, so there is no profit. Usually they are just trying to recoup or get enough for another purchase.

Seller will ask you to pay additional. Say you paid $2000. Fee is $70. They will want that $70 or you ain't getting your item.
if you already paid and they refuse to ship till you added a fee, file a complaint with PP
did that happen?
or did you NOT get charged to your account and just came here to moan because you missed out on a deal?

If stated conversation happen POST seller receiving funds, then stating hey buddy you owe me for fees .. YES A PROBLEM, tho sadly a problem that has no legal cure or really creates leverage to continue said deal if the $70 does not get paid
Now said ... if seller does not honor the 2k sent and deliver, or offer you a Full refund that would be sorta blackmail and likely you may find some legal miens to leverage seller ?

It is a VERY slippery slope when no one really knows each other and really who or where they reside .... THUS WHY Reputation & History of both sellers and buyers is so important. We're mostly dealing with individuals and not companies in the classified area

I guess no one sees the problem. Here is a Google search. What selling asking buyer to pay fees is illegal. Either put in asking price and boost up price, might turn buyers away buy u aren't forcing buyers to pay fee. Also asking for buyer use friends and family on goods is also illegal. Might want to check PayPal policy before using it.

Actually, it isn't illegal. It is contrary to PayPal's TOS (maybe). PayPal doesn't make law, they make contracts that people are expected to adhere to. Many things in contracts (like TOSs) are not enforceable and I'd bet this is one of them, particularly if both parties consent.

Are you saying you paid for an item at 2k, then the seller comes back as says you owe fees or they won’t ship?

In that case since you paid for goods and services, dispute it and get your money back.

If you are saying you agreed to buy something at asking price but will only pay by goods and services and the seller informs you there will be an additional fee, don’t buy it if it chaps your hide.

Go on Gunbroker, most dealers there say there is an additional fee (surcharge) over the bid if paying by credit card.

No I'm using $2k as an example. But I have I've buy things from seller and use paypal. They wanted me to pay with friends and family but I choose goods and services. So if I get scam I can report to paypal. They then message me to pay the fees to cover it before they can ship item even though I already paid the asking price.

My problem is seller is forcing buyers to pay the fee when I check PayPal policy, buyers do not pay any fees. If you listing your gun at say $1500 and then force buyer to pay fees that's a turn off for me. I never deal with sellers forcing buyer to pay fees.
This is the same thing as businesses adding a "Cash Loss Discount". i.e. credit card fees to your bill. As stated above, if they simply add it to the price you'll be none the wiser.

Not sure if it's allow to discuss about PayPal here. But I keep saying selling asking buyers to pay the fee. I look on PayPal policy and they stated buyers do not pay the fee. Seller have to pay the fee. And then they ask you to send as friends. Like sure imma trust getting scam doing friends and family. When I get Fk, PayPal won't help since it's F&F. Should buyers pays for the fees? Or should seller? Or avoid these type of sellers?

pretty much between the seller and the buyer, it's none of PPs business. PP protects the buyer unless they know its a (gun) then all bets are off.

So they said they’d take PayPal friends/family but you chose to pay by goods/services? So now the seller is supposed to eat 3.5% because you chose to pay that way?

He told you how he would accept payment. Did you ask if you could pay goods and services? Either cancel the deal or pony up the fees.

Do people read paypal TOS when making an account and accepting their terms? Lol. Friends and family is not for buying good. It is for gift. Example your grandma wants to send you money for lunch, she use friends and family. That's what it's called friends and family duh. Now why should a buyer pay by friends and family for good and service when it's against TOS. Paying someone $2000 as family and friends and seller don't send nothing. You are fk. Lol. Doesn't matter if they ask for friends and family, it's against TOS to do so.

You are trying to rationalize your poor decision to:

1) enter into a private seller that you don’t trust
2) not pay in the manner requested
3) get ticked off because he asked for the 3.5% fees for your failure to follow payment directions

I hope the seller just refunds your money and is done with you.

I get the whole scam thing. If you’re not feeling like you can’t trust him. Don’t deal with him.

When I sell an item here or other places I request a USPS money order or certified bank check. If they ask to pay with PayPal, I ask for friends and family so I don’t eat 3.5%. I’m not a business or company, it’s my stuff. It you want G&S, pay the 3.5% instead of beating a guy up over your piece of mind.

PayPal has a million silly rules or grey areas in the agreement. We make our own decisions if we want to follow them. Ofcourse you’re not “supposed” to send f&f for sales. Tust me on this one, If a deal go south(w/ g&s). You’ll have to fight them to get money back. More times than not, PayPal doesn’t take the loss. They are ruthless. Both sellers and buyers get burnt. A lot of guys stopped using PayPal.

As the “Buyer” you either go with seller accepted payments or move on.For example, I’m impatient so I usually pass on MO deals. It’s just the way it goes. No ones trying to rip you off. Have to look a both sides here. Last deal I made, the seller was awesome. I wouldn’t want him to get a penny less than his asking price.
After hundreds of online deals I still get nervous doing them sometimes. Scammers suck.
