with two clean misses, ended up with two hits. I need to learn to be more patient.
Thought the morning was going to be a complete bust, then decided to move to the other end of the WMA.
I sat down and just decided to chill, and after a little over half an hour, had one "appear" on the ground at maybe 12 or 10 yards. I finally was patient, and the young male eventually hopped up on a sapling giving me a shot, so I took it - so at least I'm not going home empty handed!
It was getting close to 11, so I collected my kill and began a slow stalk back to the truck. Seems to be a lot of blackbirds in this part of the woods, and even with them squakin' and making racket I was pretty sure I could here an occasional "mew" not the normal barking, but pretty sure the sound was coming from a squirrel, so I did my best to move as quietly as possible near the source and just listened - well the blackbirds just all took off at once, and I took this opportunity to do the quarter trick - after just a few rubs, the "mew" sound subsided and I caught movement to my left and there was bogie #2 checking me out - a clear shot from no more than 20 yards connected with a solid thump - #2 in the bag
Thanks for putting up with this long winded post for just two squirrels, I do appreciate it!
