So I scored a .22 cal Career II.
She's holding air and fires but the pellet feed is frustrating me. Tried a couple different shapes with no luck. Hangs up and jambs. Doesn't cycle em in with the lever. Does this look like a custom made magazine? I'm thinking it's the problem. Shouldn't it be black? Is there a trick I'm missing? Certain pellets?

Yes, it appears to be a custom magazine. Davis (original importer) is currently selling magazines on American Airgun ads if you want some originals.
The pellet setup for good feeding is very critical and pellet specific... so you can't just randomly throw different pellets in it.
The magazine spring looks like it could be stronger than the factory one which would make adjustment even more critical.
These are typically very accurate and powerful rifles and pellet adjustment set properly... smooth loading..

Thanks Bob. The two pellets I tried were both on the shorter side. Someone mentioned that it like long pellets. I just ordered some longish looking Korean ones. Waiting on mail time to try them out. I might cut that feed spring a little shorter. Maybe just order an original mag. Don't like the looks of the aluminum color or the screw "bolt".

If you cycle the action you'll see that theres an adjuster on the shuttle that feeds the pellets. Loosen this screw and then adjust the pellet stops position so that your chosen pellet sits flush against the pellet shuttle when fully inserted (no more no less) Then tighten the screw.

As mentioned in the above message the Career 707 must be adjusted for specific length pellets otherwise it won't cycle the pellets.

My original magazines are all black plastic.

The factory mag from Davis is value priced, try one (3 more?). If yu might ever want to change pellets once you remove receiver cover it IS worth milling the cover as someone above mentioned. They all like the Korean ammo best. They also like flat bottom slugs of the correct length and have the power to push them tho with the famous Korean Cliff power curve. Any pellet who's tip slides into the bottom of the next pellet is Not a good choice.

I don't see the adjuster. Have to have gun apart? Never took one of these apart despite having 3 of them. It isn't apparent as how to seperate it. Here's a pic looking in with magazine removed. That's a Crosman premier (domed) hollow point. It falls in at least 1/4 inch too deep. I see why the next pellet was hanging up with its nose pushed in there.

There is a little finger and plate under the top cover that can be adjusted for different length pellets. It sits just about where it says 5.5 on the side of it. You’ll need to remove the top cover to access it though.
What's the trick to removing the top cover? Anyone doing it on video?
I did order some long looking pellets, Korean made, that I hope will work. Maybe get really lucky on length.

Nice collection.

What's this famous Korean Cliff power curve? These things are amazing. A crosman .22cal 14.3gr hollowpoint gives me over 1100fps. That normal or is this hopped up? Might should get some slugs. Would likely knock a squirrel right over.

Memory only, so....... The stock stays on, seems like just the scope rail screws removed and use butt stock (slap gently) to leaver it up. So you end up with the butt stock and reciever in your hand, set aside, just in front of your clip there will be a roughly 1/4" square plastic part with a single screw in the idle of it. Loosen- do not remove-screw and slide SLIGHTLY reward or forward. IF the Koreans Heavy's are still about the same looking at you pick "I" would wait until they arrive t is likely set for them.
Do NOT turn over while working on this. The cycling parts (flat plate on top) is held in only with Thick grease when reciever cover is removed.
No need to degas.

I cant recall what Han's and Ray's "A-Team" web site was otherwise internet archive might pull it up. Back then they made regulators (non-vented) for the Career rifles, golden barrels and in .177 the 1st pre-charged that would shoot an entire FT match w/out refill. Even in .22 and .25 some folks liked them as opposed to EVERY shot lower in fps.
Your speed sound normal for such a light pellet. My stock Career 707II in .25 made 99pfe on the first shot with 39.9g "pelletman" slugs.
The mod many did for pellet shuttle adjust ment was to grind, cut, mill an opening through the receiver (cover) to allow access to that Phillips screw.

Keep us posted,

John

should you own a Ultra they were made to shoot a 76g flat back slug. Tom ("pelletman") provided then to Davis who sent them to the factory, he also sent more to Davis to included free with every rifle. This was the reason so many had cycling and or accuracy issues when using pellets causing people to send them off for "modification". When using the correct ammo the grouped great.

Good stuff, thanks. I'll wait for the pellets to arrive in hopes to not open her up.

thats about normal for that pellet weight, i dont know what your power wheel is set at ?
Was centered yellow in the yellow. It "rolls"way past with a red dot to the extreme power end and another dot (colorblind) at the far low power end. The extreme limits safe to shoot?
I tried a shot cranked way up but it's too dark for my chrono.
