Amazing performance filling a 9L Acecare tank with a GX CS4!

Total time pumping to fill at 9L tanks was only 3 hours and 29 mins. This is 12.9L per minute when the specs on a CS4 is only 11L/min. A 17% better performance than expected. How can this be? I boosted the input pressure, starting at 10 PSI down to 2 PSI depending on the tanks pressure. I used a watt meter on the input to the power supply and kept the AC watts consumption of the power supply to <=480W by periodically lowering the input air pressure to the compressor as the tank's pressure rose. The water temp varied from 112 to 115.4F. The water was higher when the input watts were higher. Not a single drop of water from the vent tube. Vented once at 150 bar and then at the end at 300 bar. I used a small tampon type filter on the output with very small amount (less than 2cc) of silica beads with indicating color to check if water was going into the tank. No change in color of the beads! I have a large >1 quart silica desiccant filter at 90 PSI upstream from the input to the CS4. It was recently filled with new beads, all orange in color. At the end of filling the tank the top 1" of the filter is clearly green in color the rest of the 9+ inches are still orange.

I'm happy with the CS4 so far. If it last 200 hours runtime I would say it was a good value. I have about 8 hours on is so far. If it breaks tomorrow it was a bad value.

It'll wear out running it that long. Only pump I've had to stand up running every day is a twin piston tunex. Been going near about every day for 8 months now. My first six small compressors broke, quit pumping air,or something failed just after a few months time. I paid 350$ for this one and fill 6.8 liter tanks from 200bar to 300 bar about every day.

The CS4 is water cooled and reaches equilibrium at a reasonable temperature. I can't see how running 4 hours is going to do any more damage and wear than running 1 hour at a time with 1 hours rest, but doing it 4 times. The manual said it can run 5 hours at a time. I think the 5 hour limit may have to do with the fact that you may need to grease it every 5 hours.

After filling my 9L SCBA tank with the CS4 I tend to top it off once it gets down to about 200 bar. At that point top off time is around 30-40 minutes. Almost 60 hours on my CS4 at this point and it still runs fine.
Have you gone through your initial fill of Grease yet? If so what type of Grease are you using now?

Still on the first fill but bought a refill from Target Forge so I have it on hand. The CS4 is NOT a lube hog at all. I also got a spare rubber washer - the one that’s at the bottom of the grease pot.

Wow, that's a long run. A dead empty 9 liter will take some serious time to fill. My 4.5 liter took an hour or two, I kinda lost track, I can go from 3000 to 4500 on the 4.5 liter in 10-12 minutes with EL Cheapo. So far so good, will change oil prior to the next tank pump up. Sure enjoy having a tank of air, I am on the hunt for a 9 liter. My 4.5 will be a good field/range size. Off to the evil bay...
