Good deal. Love me some ZAN projectiles too!Switching to zan not only tightened my groups by .4moa, I get 200 for 20 instead of 100 for 15... And they dont oxidize as you've said

Ive shot them all.Knockouts are super clean and cheaper, ran them at 980fps but they don't expand as much as the Hybrids, haven't try Zan and H&N
Have you try running the Hybrids at 850~880fps to see if they would group better?Ive shot them all.
Given I'm using a dream tac with a little work. I can't sling 34gr at 980, I can sling 26-28s at that speed, I'm limited to about 895 on KOs. ~60fpe.. I can sling heavy mk1/2 34gr at 910.
Hybrids give an instant massive expansion.
The best massive expansion and penetration I have consistently gotten from HP slugs and Zan. I never have to clean off the zan, hps either. Both massive expansion. I'm willing to do side by side of hybrid, HP, hp2, zan g1 and new ZAN.
I don't know what Im doing wrong with hybrids. Fast or slow they just don't hold tight like the Zan's or H&N for me. I'm doing 35y tune tests for 30gr right now. I just put 3 groups on paper of zan and hp that rival the best performance I get with FX King 25.4/aea 25.39 my hybrid groups look like I'm pattering buckshot.

possibly too much air behind them or....your Parallax is out of wack. I'm voting for too much air.Ive shot them all.

Would you recommend using sonic cleaners as a good way to safely clean the slugs? By safe I mean in a way that won't damage the slugs or the machine. My hybrids didn't have any flaking, however... I made the mistake of keeping them in my garage for over a year. They oxidized pretty quickly. I assume that's why ZAN changed from a moisture collecting cardboard sleeve to foil sealed packaging.
I was shocked and sad to see all the oxidation. I didn't want them to go to waste so I cleaned them in a sonic cleaner with 50% water / 50% vinegar. It removed the oxidation real quick, but then I had to re-lube them with a shot of Gunzilla, and store them in an air tight metal tin. Not an ideal situation, but at least they didn't go to waste!
FWIW - I cleaned 2000 rounds in a matter of minutes and had very little metal flakes in the bottom of the sonic cleaner. When did you purchase these?
Definitely not.possibly too much air behind them or....your Parallax is out of wack. I'm voting for too much air.
I was throwing stuff out there, just for giggles try backing off on your hammer a little bit. Matt Gruber explains how it works with slugs. I do it and it really tightens them up. Oh and I switched to as close to 1:16 as I could get, did it in my Mav. .22 Compact and miracle of miracles worked, my .25 is a 1:18 works well, the Raptor .25 is 1:16 with a TJ barrel, works well. I get them as fast as I can.Definitely not.
Hybrids are just not friendly with me. My tune sounds like a spitball. Just a snappy little split second "pthh". Coming out gently. Every other projectile is doing great. In my superior 1:24 they were filth. Tried at 100 bar, 110, 115, 120,125,130,135.140. Obviously adjusting the internal to each given reg pressures appropriate curve, im not happy if my extreme is over 10-11 I want a SD under 5. I have given too much in the past but know the sound and symptoms well. Getting 45-50 shots on my 500cc bottle is a good tell. I'm getting in the neighborhood of 75 when I push the 30s at 880-900.. I can shoot the hybrids in my light pellet settings at 870. My superior at best would get 1.5-2" at 100. I was doing 1.1" or less with 25.4s on a windless day. My 1:16 liner is slightly better, I'm gonna try fine tuning a few things. And I'm not out of parallax. I know exactly how to set my optics, and even tell if the parallax wheel is out of sync with real world parallax distance. Those groups in that pic are all from today. 2 fills. I don't know whats going on.
My standard superior shot HP slugs 30 and 32gr. Better than it shot hybrids. Hybrids were the first slug I ever bought. In fact. I bought a bunch with the dreamline. Since I've added the dual hole huma tp, higher tension spring, slightly heavier hammer, huma High power reg, dual plenums and the slug liner I've had no trouble with any other slugs like I have with hybrids. Usually I just buy one box or tin and if they don't group well out of the gate I just toss them. 26.5 zan, 28 HP 2, all slug hp iis in fact. The original slug HP is incredible, the hp2 goes Pollock on me, which is a shame because they have some fantastic expansion capability. NSAs haven't agreed... And I'm yet to try javelin. But I haven't given up on the hybrids because I bought so damn many being assured STX superior barrels eat up hybrids. Mine didn't.I was throwing stuff out there, just for giggles try backing off on your hammer a little bit. Matt Gruber explains how it works with slugs. I do it and it really tightens them up. How do you get a thin enough layer of beeswax on slugs? Ive used a beeswax, tallow and shortening mix to lube minié balls and other BP bullets with lube grooves or cannelures. How hot are you getting getting the wax and how are you coating them evenly without it accumulating? Base down? Tumbling? Do they make lubing dies for airgun slugs? The FX hybrids are actually from Rocky Mountain Reloading, you can buy in bulk from them. I've had batches that were pretty clean and others that were disgusting. That said, they are pretty much the only ones that I can get to work. I just have a little ultrasonic cleaner, I use denatured alcohol to shake most of the garbage off, then bees wax them. I'll have to give the owner a call and ask what's happening, he does shoot airguns, a nice guy.
Do the hybrids measure .218 or .217?My standard superior shot HP slugs 30 and 32gr. Better than it shot hybrids. Hybrids were the first slug I ever bought. In fact. I use a beeswax furniture polish, put it on a microfiber towel, dump on a load of slugs/pellets and start rubbing....gently, takes a minute. The carrier evaporates and leaves the beeswax. I have a bunch of beeswax .... somewhere....mislaid it....was going to melt it and work it into a towel....that plan went away when I lost the darn bag of wax.How do you get a thin enough layer of beeswax on slugs? What are you shooting? I have a modified notos with a superior liner, 17 LDC 218s are the best performing slug by a mile. Considering my crown has the same exact twist and length 380mm 1:24 superior I get great results with it too. In 25 1:16 slug liner not quite so wonderful, they do better in the slower twist somehow. The expansion is superb always. My 1:16 .25 slug liner packs the H&N slug HP, and Zan slugs (redesigns) just as well as a superior does pellets. To be fair, I havent played with speeds and pressures with the Griffin LDC .250s so I can't say for sure. They do about 1.6MOA at 100. Where as H&N and Zan of the same weight do, reliably, one inch or just under. I stopped experimenting and tweaking when I got to the point where I'm getting pellet accuracy out of 2 slugs.Tried them, poor results.
Now I use H&N slugs in the same rifle, excellent.
