Boy...that is a tough one because I owned a Daystate Regal and a Brocock Compatto, both unregulated. The Daystate is the best sporter style PCP I ever shot and the Compatto was the best field carry/hunter/pester I ever owned........sorry if I am not being helpful! So my choice would depend on your usage......and the HW would be no different than the Daystate just maybe heavier? The Compatto's stock was the best synthetic stock I ever felt.
I want it for chipmunks and sparrows, field mice, and hopefully soon, ratting. Need a dedicated 10-50 yard pester. Regulated versions specifically.. kinda sick of the gnat with a sledgehammer stuff.Seems like all four are fine choices… That said, I choose the BRK Compatto. A non regulated Compatto was my first BRK. It was outstanding to me. All five of my BRKs have been solid PCPs…
Im at an impass. I have shot all 3, I enjoyed them all. They're neck and neck with performance. I can't really go wrong with any. The Compatto XR HR is easiest on the wallet, IMO the Weihrauch is the easiest on the loading and fantastic from the rest , the daystate is easiest on my eyes..they all perform flawlessly and can shoot hole on hole. I can't really take a wrong turn here. Eventually I'll have all 3. This adds some excitementThose are all high quality air rifles that will serve your needs. I have a Daystate Revere and an HW100 carbine, and have owned a Brocock Sniper XR. The Weihrauch has the best trigger and mag system. The Revere is an easier carrying rifle with a traditional sporter feel, and might be easier for most people to use with the makeshift support you have to use in the woods. Depending on your personal preferences, those 2 are my suggestion. All that said, do yourself a favor and do not rely on the forum to make your decision, unless someone is offering to pay for it!
The kicker for me would be eaze of loading and inserting magazines-the Brocock or Daystates win this hands downI can't decide. I will decide by results..
My pay and commission hit the same day this month on the 29th. I'm ordering the Huntsman Revere regulated safari.I own both a HW 110 and a Revere in 177. Since acquiring the Revere, my 110 doesn't receive the love/use it once did, possibly (likely) due to the weight. They both shoot lights out accurate and quiet for the small backyard pests I also use these rifles for.
The 110 mags are easier loading, but a lever needs to be depressed at the same time to insert the mag into the receiver,,, which for my old stiff fingers can cause slight momentary fumbling. The Revere is much more eye appealing!
I think the incidence of the HW100 being delivered shooting too hot is more often an issue in the full length rifle. My carbine came shooting fine, about 890 fps with the 10 g pellet if I remember correctly. I have since tuned it down to the sub-12 fpe level, around 11 fpe I think. At this power level it is virtually silent and has a great shot count. It is my favorite backyard rifle, but still has sufficient power for squirrels. I assume it was originally designed as a non-FAC level rifle, and I think the lower power level is where it really excels. I agree with the trigger comment above. It is a real, two-stage trigger and one of the best.HW100 in .177 needs to be de tuned…
