Brocock/BRK BRK Ghost & Barrel/Caliber Changes

This last summer I've bought two PCPs;:
  • Taipan Veteran 2 Standard in .25 OAL length of 38" with moderator.
  • BRK Ghost Blaze Plus in .22
Both are shooting great for me and the build quality of each of them is superb. Accuracy is wonderful. However, all my shooting except for a bit of plinking and sighting in is tree squirrel hunting. I find the Ghost with OAL of 33.6 (with .25 Donny FL RYU moderator) to far handier for my use. But, I like the confidence inspiring .25 caliber. The .25 Vet hits with such authority!

So, I'm thinking about sinking another $500+ (sheesh) in a barrel kit for the Ghost. If I did that I might find myself moving the Taipan on because I'd favor the Ghost. I have never done barrel swapping with air rifles before. I know it is easy not he Ghost, that's not the issue. I just wonder if I would do it? Frankly, the only reason I didn't go with the Ghost in .25 is I didn't want the extra length.

I don't seem to find a Ghost Barrel kit for .25 in the shorter version (17")? I guess it is an efficiency thing that the .25 "needs" more length?

I may have just solved my issue? I removed the big ole bulky OEM moderator from the Taipan. Yep, it's louder, but so much nicer to handle at the shorter length. I have been hunting with rimfires for more than 60 years so I'm not really concerned about noise and I live in a rural area with unlimited range to shoot. So, I'm going to try to find a threaded end cap for the Taipan (weird threads my RYU wouldn't fit the Taipan) and shoot hunt with it unmoderated. After this squirrel season ends in February I'll have hunted with both the .22 BRK and the .25 TV. I'll know what I want to do for next year then.

I do see only 23" barrels for the BRK .25 and I'm not loving that.

Anyone know where to get a barrel thread protector for the Taipan Vet 2 HP?
