After the Gauntlet conversation yesterday you guys were nice enough to talk me out of that rifle. So I started my search over again. The AEA SF is lighter but still has a bottle that can be upgraded and allows for 4500 PSI. It can be used as a bolt action. It looks better (to me) and it comes in three barrel lengths. Searching the threads on here the only complaint seems to be a heavy trigger and I can live with that. What do you guys think?

If it were me, 1st thing I'd do is weigh the number of negative commentaries here vs the positive on AEA stuff. I've never held or shot an AEA gun but in my memory, from posts here, the bad outweighs the good. But that's me. YMMV.

I own a bunch of AEA guns but airsmithing has allowed me to understand and correct issues others would/could discourage.
My Challenger Big 9mm makes 300 fpe, it hits 2MOA, perfect 50y deer gun.
The old or the new? The old ones sucked.
The semi's have always had problems, more so the older models.
For a more reliable AEA platform get yourself a bolt action or side lever. I had a Varmint .25 thay was robust. All the other AEA semis either the poppets broke, they pushed so much air to cycle the next round that it pushed the round past the mag to the back cause it to lodge itself in the block or it would cause the clear face to break off infront of your face.

I won't buy from Umarex. Bought a $329 Origin 18 months ago. Found out I could not find O ring and rebuild kits for it anywhere.
Called Umarex.
Umarex told me it was discontinued. And basically tough luck on an O ring kit.
The point I am making here is to not so much look at the newest fluff. But to look for a company you feel confident in should issues arise.
I would call and E mail companies on tht you are interested in and ask or find out online if rebuild kits are available?
I invested over $550 in Umarex and felt a bad vibe when I called them 5 days ago.
Research the company first and make sure O rings and all rubber parts are easily replaceable.
Cry once buy once.
Find a reputable company with available after market parts.
Or do like me and purchase 3 Umarex Zada *EDITED* HATSAN in .25 since those are budget priced. Each one around $124.
One goes out grab the new one.
Sorry, I am rambling too much.
Just don't want to see you make a mistake like I did. And purchase something you can't get parts for.

The one I had, I sold it to one of the guys I took on an iguana hunting tour, he rocked them so well with that gun he asked if he could buy it from me. That became his first pcp haha. I liked shooting it, just didn't like how long it was. Also liked that it didnt need a moderator.

Mine goes in the classifieds in the next few weeks, It's fantastic but other guns have taken the throne and I want to pair down my collection.

I had a challenger bullpup when they first came out. It was in 25 caliber and pushing 80 fpe out of the box. It was like shouldering a bazooka lol. Trigger was heavy but single action so not much creep. I never had issues with it and sold it due to it being a giant brick of a bullpup.

So I am pretty happy to know I may have turned someone on to air rifle shooting.
I pretty much am of the sound mind that if I get an air rifle. I want a single shot pcp .50 cal for medium to big game.
And that will cost. And is a future plan.
For now I am going to buy anoother budget cheap spare Hatsan Zada design since I love the solid stock build quality.
I am of the mind I am better off if I can afford a $600 pcp or a $400 range on up middle class break barrel.
That I can maintain easier with less company hassle than with some PCP's
