N/A Match Results Central Pa Airgun 10/26/2

We had our first lady winner today. Naomi Gates won a tightly contested match today. In her first venture into a formal match her 54.5 edged out Al Duster and Jeff Gates who tied with 54.0. We had 10 shooters today with springguns shooting 40 animal silhouette targets at 20 meters. We have a good group of shooters, some traveling over 3 hrs each way to compete. Our next match is December 16 at Doble Tap Indoor Range in Altoona,Pa.

We started out a point for each animal hit. By the fourth match most shooters were hitting every animal. So we added a half point bonus to each hit if the pellet was 100% inside the animal. That separated things nicely. On the target the first number after each line are the points based on hitting it. The second number is the bonus points, at .5 per animal, for that line of animals. This has separated scores quite a bit. As a group we have really increased our ability through competition.

Nice. I believe the original targets have directions indicating the shot should be full inside or something to score. The directions on the original targets were in fine print at the bottom. I think the issue you encountered (and handled) was the same one they did as well.

Edit: Over 1/2 the shot in the target to score. "Directions for Scoring: Scores shots on the edge of the animals with 50 foot paper silhouette scoring overlay. Scoring overlay has concentric .22 and .177 rings and a center dot. Place an unfired target under target being scored. Center rings of the overlay over the shot hole. If the center dot touches the reconstructed silhouette score the shot as a hit."

Were these shot standing?
No we shoot off tables. This target is the 50ft target shot at 66 ft and we reduced the size 20%. No overlays target shot as is regardless of caliber. I have shot it with my Diana 54 .22 but on the turkeys and rams there is NO room for error. It's a .177 game. With a .22 you can not get enough bonus points.
