What Paper Target Did You Shoot Today

Thomas, nice shooting. May I suggest another technique to try? Raise the dot just slightly above the bull then lower it onto the bull and break the shot. Try to hold on the bull for a millisecond and allow your muscles to stack up then break the shot. It’s difficult to describe.
Hello @igolfat8

Tim that sounds like a much better idea. This will give me an actual "acquisition" of the target. I will give that a test in the morning when I shoot again.

Thank you,
ThomasT

Hello @igolfat8

Tim I liked your idea so I decided to give it a quick test. However I need to inform you that you are responsible for the demise of a Squirrel. As I was setting up the target in my shop I noticed a Squirrel out by the bird feeders, so I slid open a window and rested the barrel and BANG ☠️🐿️🎯.

I used this target because it has a smaller 10-Ring forcing me to focus on it. The Blue Ring represents the 9 - Ring on the Red Dot Competition Target. So I was able to get 9 out of 10 shots within the 9-Ring and this is a pretty good improvement for me.

Range: 15 - Feet Indoors
Pistol: Diana Bandit .177 caliber modified w/Buck Rail AR Conversion & Grip
Scope: Hawkeye Red Dot
Pellets: H&N Sport 8.18gr Wadcutter
FPS: 475
FPE: 5.9
Position: Olympic Style Offhand

I generally shoot AA 13.4 Falcons in my Vixen for pigeon pesting but decided to try a couple other pellets. The Hades look promising so I am going to use those on our next hunt.

Then I ran a crono string on a p-rod. Not really shooting for accuracy, since it has a red dot on it, but rapid firing to get some crono data.

Shooting 5G30 mostly. starting with MRD pellets, and then finishing off with 13 gr Zan slugs.

A digital scope are not the best tool for 1 hole groups, i was using a dot reticle but the dot bigger than the hole a single 4.5 mm make in paper.
The output video have a much smaller red dot.
Also tweaking a little as i went along, also the 5 shot groups in the white are shot after a aim hole.

A couple of the papers in photographs.
The shots in the black, well no telling where they land looking thru scope, daytime mode not awardwinning footage it capture, and for sure not with a unholy number of digital zoom on top.
I have requested oneleaf that they make a digi scope based on a zoom core from a PTZ camera, this way we can get 20 - 30 - 40 X and up optical zoom.
Downside such a zoom core, well they are not made for G shocks, but i think at least modest size air rifles would be no problem.

I really need to get my finger out and buy that rear rest, my gehtto solutions are no good.
A little speed up 4 X video from the Oneleaf NV500 scope.

Later i also shot a little mouse, it catching a 13 grain Zan slug at speed, well it did not go anywhere after that.
Excellent shooting! I don't know how you even see where your aim is in the black bullseye! I can see your hits on the white paper where the red dot is 👍.

Well Tim, those pigeons have no chance with you and your Vixen in hand!

Shot this 8 shot group @ 20yds with my RAW .22 shooting 2 JSB 18gr then 2 NSA 17.5gr rinse repeat this afternoon. My groups have been abysmal as of late just no consistency so I changed my hold/sight picture and voila consistency achieved...at least for todays session...😂. I had to adjust 1 click up shooting this as my POI was a tad low on my first 4 shots, you can see the Sharpie marks higher up. I hope I can repeat this tomorrow...🙏

Nice group Randal. That’s amazing that your pellets and slugs are landing in the same hole.

Hello @Ranchibi

Yeah, what @igolfat8 said (y) :D.

Hello everyone,

Set up in the shop this morning to shoot some paper targets with the Diana Bandit and a Red Dot scope. I had a bit of an advantage this morning because I got a remote camera and a monitor to make it much easier for me to view each shot on the target.

Range: 15 - Feet Indoors
Pistol: Diana Bandit .177 caliber modified w/Buck Rail AR Conversion & Grip
Scope: Hawkeye Red Dot
Pellets: H&N Sport 8.18gr Wadcutter
FPS: 475
FPE: 5.9
Position: Bench with Bipod and Lab Jack rear

Good morning and I did a little "N50" practice. I know it’s scaled for 20 yards, but at 7 yards with a pistol it’s hard to see and hit the dots in the center for a 10 score. I count the sighter bulls as well as the 25 'for score' bulls.

Hello @rsfrid

Beautifully shot card Ross (y) .

I am glad that you are not scoring my targets :D , that "9" third from last bottom row sure looks like a 10 to me ...... 🤓

You only shot a couple of those bulls with one pellet? 🤣 Seriously, that’s some great shooting Thomas.

Hello @rsfrid

Thank you sir, I am getting the feel for this little pistol. I did choke miss-aimed on that #2 target however, got a bit too relaxed .

Hello everyone,

Shot several warm up targets this morning and had some tight groups but just kept on placing them a bit high. Then shot this competition target and shot them a bit high   ???? Rather than clean the barrel, I think my brain could use a good cleaning o_O🤪

My Bugbuster is the same. If I adjust one click down, the hits will be low 🤔 so just hold cross hairs towards bottom of black circle, not center. That will bring them down. Nice groups though.
