OK
Hello,
I am researching this rifle for another addition to my hunting line up. All the videos I've found are 3 to 4yrs old. Do any of you guys have first hand experience with it? Ive come to realize after owning quite a few Airguns in all price ranges that I don't need regulated or big shot counts for hunting and like tube guns much better than bulky bottle guns. I just hunt squirrels and don't shoot past 50yds and to be honest most of my shots are around 25-30yds. Expensive guns are nice but in my eyes not any better for what I do and I'm better served with using that money elsewhere.

Thanks
Jon

I have the Eagle Claw Carbine in .25. It is accurate and very powerful. These guns make the kind of power you would expect from the Airforce brand but they are repeaters. They are also reasonably quiet with their internal baffles and are threaded 1/2x20 so you can put a mod on if you like. For squirrel hunting I would stay with the Carbine model, there just isn't any need of the extra power and weight of the full size model for that application. Mine is not to pellet picky but it likes AEA the best at the tune I am using JSBs work well also as do many others. Naturally I have not tried all the options available. I have had several of my larger guns for sale because I keep having problems with tendonitis but I really love this gun and I will never sell it. In fact, if I did not have the health issues, I would seriously consider a second one in .22. With your statement about shot counts and tube guns may I suggest my favorite gun which is the Airforce Escape SS model in .25. I love that gun so much that I traded another one of my guns for the same model in the .22 version and yes you can change the barrels but I just wanted to grab and go. Both guns are in the same price range BUT the Airforce guns have a life time warranty if purchased new and there are only 4 O-rings in the whole gun unless you do some mods like putting on a regulator. It is basically a TalonP but with a built-in shroud with baffles to tone it down. Getting old has taught me that a 4.3-pound gun before putting on a scope is way more fun than a 7+ pound gun before scope for carrying around in the woods or anywhere for that matter. Not saying that the heavier guns are not great but in my own personal situation I am happy that there are lighter choices available in a budget range. Being short is also a nice feature in the woods.

Ok thanks for the info. I will check the escape out. What kind of shot count you get on that escape in 25?

With the Escape SS as with the TalonP you have a very small tank which helps with the weight. Shot count will vary with the caliber and the speed of your tune as well as the pellet weight but you should be able to get ten good shots. The bottle is small enough to top back off with a hand pump or a small buddy bottle while hunting. I have a very small lite bottle I carry in an O2 tank backpack that I leave in my truck.

In my opinion these rifles are great in theory but in reality the carbine model should’ve been the full length version and they should’ve offered a shorter lighter version to call the carbine… in other words both versions are too big and heavy for my personal preference..
Your mileage may vary.
