Agreed on authentic Yong Heng value, three years in June for mine. Loud, not portable but hearing protection and SCBA tank solves that. GX4 series seems popular, successful long-term performance will be important for the platform. WM

If it ain’t broke,don’t fix it imho. …………I have an air Venturi,perfect so far. I fill my 4500 Great White tank to load my guns.

Yong Heng is a great compressor. It isn't perfect and may fail if abused and let get too hot, but repair parts are cheap and they are easy to fix. I've had mine for 4 years and have had to replace the piston once because the 2nd stage brass piston was defective and one of the lands separating the O rings failed. I replaced the whole piston and con rod. I also bought a second one for less than $300 for a spare. Personally, I would shy away from the mid priced units in the $1000-2500 price range. I got stung bad with one that I paid $2200 for. They are still on the market believe it or not. To get the best, buy a Bauer or Alkin for $4000 if you are young enough to make use of it for years.

I have been using an Air Venturri for 4-5 years, but it does not like the high humidity in my area. I have had to rebuild the top ends twice. One drawback of this unit is the weight. The bottom end seems to be holding up. The last time it broke down I ordered the GX-CS4. This compressor will fill my large tank. GX seems to have solved a couple of the problems of compressing high pressure air. It operates at a lower speed which means it runs cooler and that helps with moisture control and need to have an oil base. These are a lot cheaper than Air Venturri and I hope it holds up.

Been using the Yong Heng $250 compressor now for about 5 years. I tell ya for the price it cant be beat. I like the water cooling...fill a 5 gal bucket 1/3 full water drop in 5-6 ice cream container blocks of ice. Can fill my 60 minute SCBA in about 1/2 hour, have four.I drop the tank in the bucket with the ice. Have the brass colored tubes with the fiber filters, all works good. I see there are alot of new style compressors out there now. I know all would like to here your reviews pro/con. Thanks...Pete in Montana

I too have one of those compressors for about 4 years and am very pleased. I use a THREE gallon container of water and I also add three 20 oz bottles of frozen water bottles with the caps removed. Generally I only fill from about 2800 psi to 4000 psi, takes about 15 to 20 minutes. However, last time it took alttle longer and I only filled to 3900 psi. I "NEVER" run it more than 15 minutes at a time. After 15 minutes I shut down and let it cool for two hours, the water isn't that hot but the crankcase is getting warm, not in any hurry to be done. It seems to be struggling to get over 4000 psi lately and the higher you go the hotter it gets. It may be time to check the piston and rings, maybe even replace with parts from EBAY or one of the Chinese sources. As jps2486 says, parts are cheap, although he is well into those Golden years. Hell for $300 get another one as a spare or gang them together and save time, but two of them running should scare the neighbors.

I bought a CS4 water cooled compressor for $540 shipped. I don't have anything to compare it with because this is my first one. It only has a couple hours of use and I like it so far. It gets warm by 15-20 minutes of compressing air, so I don't run it more than that. Got my 88 CF tank topped off. I think it took 4-5 15 minute sessions to top off my 88 @3,200ish to 4,500 P.S I. Tomorow I'm going to be putting it in storage till spring.
