You are welcome. I have zero idea what the magic sauce is with them but they work. OH BTW they like to go FAST 940 on the pellets and 1040 on the slugs. at least for .25.thank you, sir, these aea 30 and 33g slugs with 1/18 liner its a whole new animal dime size at 50 yds with them,,
These slugs look very interesting, have you used them for any hunting? You are welcome. I have zero idea what the magic sauce is with them but they work. OH BTW they like to go FAST 940 on the pellets and 1040 on the slugs. at least for .25.
No, haven't had the opportunity but, screw it, it's lead, they are accurate they weigh more than my RMR's so....what's not to love and the cavity is HUGE, I'm picturing dead ground squirrels. As a note, I fired up my Mav. VP 600mm barrel today, SD wasn't stellar but....COLD gun with 33.9 AEA pellets fingernail hole 5 shots at 25 yards they only got better. ie almost hole in hole only bi-pod. Switched to 30 gr AEA slugs same POI but slightly faster at 970 pretty much same results. Disclaimer, I was experimenting and things got wild like in a 5/8" spread then they settled down, maybe me, maybe the gun, maybe the slugs, but they weren't too shabby. My SD is so so around 6.4 currently but close enough. If it doesn't rain tomorrow I'll send more lead down range. These slugs look very interesting, have you used them for any hunting?
What I am seeing is the hybrid in 26grain are not the best , lots of people having success with the Zans /H&N and wildman.Lots of people say you may get better results by reducing your FPS to 900/930 but we are all trying for those higher velocities.I have changed over to twin port on standard liner and hoping to get out on Tuesday after the weather settles .I was running 880 with the 34g JSB so will be interesting to see what the twin port does .I am hoping to run 950fps as stated on ZAN box /130bar/950FPS and being able to turn down on macro to 880 for pellets .I think I will however buy the 1:18 liner when it’s available at sportsman /uk dealership.I have been told that’s all I will need to run lighter slugs and heavy pellets but let’s see what standard liner does on slug port first .Hi David, I'm just wondering how you're getting on tuning now. Have you upgraded the liner? Do you think you will be upgrading the hammer, too? I have been looking at the Tungsten hammer, which is around £80 online. i was out with the 26.5gr slugs last weekend but didn't have much success at 970fps.
here is some that i have shot since i installed the superior heavy linerWhat I am seeing is the hybrid in 26grain are not the best , lots of people having success with the Zans /H&N and wildman.Lots of people say you may get better results by reducing your FPS to 900/930 but we are all trying for those higher velocities.I have changed over to twin port on standard liner and hoping to get out on Tuesday after the weather settles .I was running 880 with the 34g JSB so will be interesting to see what the twin port does .I am hoping to run 950fps as stated on ZAN box /130bar/950FPS and being able to turn down on macro to 880 for pellets .I think I will however buy the 1:18 liner when it’s available at sportsman /uk dealership.I have been told that’s all I will need to run lighter slugs and heavy pellets but let’s see what standard liner does on slug port first .
The standard STX Superior liner should do well with light slugs, and the FX Hybrids were designed to perform best in stock rifles. The faster twist liner will be more picky with pellets and light slugs, but will do better with heavy slugs than the standard liner. What I am seeing is the hybrid in 26grain are not the best , lots of people having success with the Zans /H&N and wildman.Lots of people say you may get better results by reducing your FPS to 900/930 but we are all trying for those higher velocities.I have changed over to twin port on standard liner and hoping to get out on Tuesday after the weather settles .I was running 880 with the 34g JSB so will be interesting to see what the twin port does .I am hoping to run 950fps as stated on ZAN box /130bar/950FPS and being able to turn down on macro to 880 for pellets .I think I will however buy the 1:18 liner when it’s available at sportsman /uk dealership.I have been told that’s all I will need to run lighter slugs and heavy pellets but let’s see what standard liner does on slug port first .
