Ghost vs Impact M4

Being a Daystate team member and owner of 22, 25 and 30 Ghost and being a previous owner of FX I can give you a honest opinion but not on this forum. Contact me at [email protected]
I believe that the rest of AGN would like to hear your honest opinion !

Considering a Ghost or Impact m4 in .22 as a do it all benchrest / EFT gun. has anyone shot both? trigger quality is important. thanks!
I’ll share my thoughts having owned both. I will also start with the cliche, “Only you will know what you like and the rest of us are just giving our opinions which could be vastly different from yours, so don’t depend on what we say but only use it as information gathering.”

I’ll start by saying that their obvious similarities don’t lend well to bench, unless you add many addons, but for EFT some of that might not be as important, but are still pretty important. That is one thing I don’t like about this platform, the need to add on a ton of accessories that don’t come standard on some other rifles (extended bipod rail, adjustable cheek, adjustable buttpad). A wide bipod helps a lot due to the top heaviness of this platform, especially after adding a heavy scope. Both can excel at each, but you really need add to get there (on already expensive rifles).

Impact - I have owned 4. They have good things and bad things. The ability to fine tune is slightly better having the valve adjuster, but it is also one more knob to turn. This can be very overwhelming and get you you more messed up the more you tinker, if you don’t know what you are doing. The best Impact I owned was purchased from SPAW after he set it up exactly like I wanted for the ammo I wanted. Only one I had that I never had to tinker with. The other used ones I bought were all much more difficult to get right. The trigger is ok, not amazing. Some like it and some hate it. It is no RAW, Thomas, Red Wolf, but it isn’t terrible.

Ghost - I have owned 1 and one Delta Wolf (similar design, but obvious different internals and trigger). I found it similar to the Impact in many ways, except the tuning was less complicated with really only 2 options. I hated the factory trigger. Super heavy. I would suggest buying from Derrick Wall and having him do a trigger job, or research what others have shared to improve it. I didn’t care for it, and sold it fairly quickly. Mostly didn’t care for it because of the platform (like the Impact).

The platforms are very much alike, so I think the overall platform will suit your or not. Then everything else becomes the deciding factors. Who do you want to support, less/more adjustments, available addons, support, etc…

The barrel/shroud is similar and people feel like they need tensioners and blocks to keep the POI wandering a to a minimum. I tried this and it didn’t seem to do much for me. As someone who never transported mine, this was never an issue as I was always careful and never rested the rifles with their weight on the barrels. That being said, a good hit to the barrel sucks.

FX is known for having lots of orings, but surprisingly, I’ve replaced more orings in Red Wolves than I have in all my FXs. I don’t think this is the issue a lot make it. But not going to deny the issues some have had.

So there you have it… I couldn’t pick between them as they are too close, but I personally wouldn’t choose either again. I like a rifle setup much more than a bullpup (that’s me) and would rather purchase a rifle with a chassis/stock that already has most of the adjustments included that are also needed. One example of a bullpup I would buy again would be a Skout. More heavy duty and much better trigger. I like it more than both those others, partially because it came with all the addons for the same price. I even like my Prophet 1, but that is more because it was half the price and shoots as well as or better than the other two.

I won't be much help as I'm not a bench rest shooter and other than an FX Wildcat, I've never owned an FX. However, I do own the BRK Ghost Plus in .22 and ....

Does your team pay you to say attention-seeking things? 🫢 or do you just have trouble speaking with neutrality?

The m4 trigger is sweet ! (y)
I can help you out. I own 2 pantheras and a impact m3,a grs crown mk2 and couple others. I got a delta wolf 30caliber 2 days ago, maybe three. After one tin, I decided I don't like the gun comparing it to all the others I've owned, high end guns,I think I like it the lest. Nothing pacific I can point out,I just don't like the feel of it. It's hard to keep on center aiming, difficult gun. I also got a cricket two days ago. I love it. Everything about it is easy. Super accurate at 100 yards. Hole wallower, time after time, now I'm looking for one in 30 caliber. Good luck finding what you like. It's hard to know till u are able to shoot a gun to know that if it's right.

I'm guessing if you are sponsored you shouldn't make anything less than glowing public comments about products from the sponsor. Only common sense if you want to remain sponsored.

No they don't! But the moderator of this forum has made it clear to me in the past that not getting $$$ from certain entities that information can be slanted to those that do pay up. If you want my honest opinion come asked the question over on the Hard Air Magazine Forum. It is obvious on this forum opinions aren't respected and people often resort to childish comments that have no value to the subject being covered.

Yup…🫣 With a “standard” BRK Ghost, no additional doo dads…

That is not a standard Ghost lol. Clearly has a barrel clamp and barrel tensioning kit. Who knows what other magic Fady put into that thing.

The trigger is so much better on the M4 and the accuracy out of the box is way better. I will say the build quality may be a bit better on the BRK.
