Sheridan Sights way off on Sheridan Blue Streak.

Can anyone explain why the sights are so far off?

I was given this Sheridan Blue Streak and noticed the aim was way off. I tried adjusting it with the screw on top of the rear sight, but even with all the travel it was still off. So I removed the screw and pushed the sight right out (see attached pictures). Now it shoots on target, but should the sights have to be adjusted this much?

Many thanks.

Where did you go Brit guy?
I don’t know if it is because I’m on a different phone or what, but your rifle looks to be bent in the direction that matches the sight offset. The stock and pump handle mismatch also indicates a bend in the same direction. If you’re not capable you should find some help, perhaps a machine shop? I hate to see one get wasted.
All the best. 👍
