Just bought a Akela

.177.it was refurbished,I do not know when I will receive it, but all good .I do not know much about them , but the deal was too good to turn down; I do not really like Bullpups,But why not? Hint: Airgun Revisions have a great sale on refurbished, the thing is, the one I wanted was already sold out.....check them out , you may also fall in the pit, Problem for me is I shoot left-handed,I am not sure I can reverse the lever to the left side, anyone know? Thank you

I am curious: What one did you want? S7
Edit: I think the regulated Marauder with the LW barrel was an interesting item.

Here is the refurbished .22 I got last week, can’t tell it’s not new

just FYI, I picked up one in .177 about a month ago. According to Rich, the .177’s are new, just not in boxes. I cut down the hammer spring and this thing is a tack driver. He is having a Black Friday sale on them. $169. Don’t pass this up if you are even considering one. You won’t be sorry. A $600 gun when they came out. If you don’t know about the spring shortening mod, or are afraid to try it, just order his tune kit. I put one in my Cayden, and it worked great. I am ordering one for the Akela as well. Mine likes Zan 13g slugs a lot, and is not really pellet picky.

Hi,

I’m the guy who did all the research and test of various spring lengths for the Akela/Cayden/Kratos - first over at the GTA site and then over here on AGN.

Rich’s tune kit works fine in .22, but I did not get good results with his spring kit in my .177 Akela. His spring is about the proper length for .177, but its a stiffer spring.

His Allen head adjuster that comes with the kit is nice, but doesn’t work well with the stock (cut down) spring because the stock spring is wider internally than Rich’s spring - the stock spring will ride up and onto the allen adjuster.

Look up my posts on .177 Akela spring length - summary - shorten stock 3.5” sprin to 2.58” and you will get an amazing shot string.

Thanks Ed. I’ll try that first. I already cut it some, but will take it to 2.58 and see how it does.

Here is a thread I did here a while back… it has a bunch of info and some shot strings I did

Just went to order a 177...out of stock

Not surprising, I thought they would sell out quickly for $219, but $169 is just ridiculous. Probably the best airgun deal I have ever seen. This one and the $7 Beeman P17s of a few years ago. I think I bought 6 of them. They made great Christmas gifts.

EPG,
I saved your thread in GTA for reference. I'll go over this one ^ also. Just need to get a couple of springs first, and the gun of course. :D

Ed I’m the guy who did the same before the guns came to market. A bunch of members here would know that not to mention my friend who was responsible for the Craftman series project and the lead engineer. There’s a reason why I have all the Craftman guns and parts now Ed.

1. The stock spring was never meant to be used with adapter for my spring. Don’t know why you would even consider it or complain about something that shouldn’t be per AR setup.
2. You never mention about using the valve spring that is highly meant to be used for the .177 and stated with the kit to counter the hammer spring on lower pressures when getting around the 2000psi mark.
